I love this! It's an honest account of your life with true heart and humour. I wouldn't worry about your expiration date either. With an imagination like yours you've got a good while to go yet, I'm certain:) Your description of your 11 year old self is an absolute delight to read. And, as for your Christmas plans, well, they sound pretty inviting to me. I hate the idea of filling up with conventional food just because it's a certain time of the year. One Christmas (pre-kids) we made absolutely no preparations and simply cycled round the neighbourhood on our gifted (to one another) bikes, looking through people's condensation-filled windows! Love the video too, a fine voice (yours as opposed to the cat's!). Have a good one, Terry, with plenty of books and movies! Debbie

I love this, Terry!! It is creative, humorous, and gives one a lot to think about. Certainly an exceptional piece. I have an opinion on your closing statement --- Life proves imagination is the spark for humanity and, indeed, anything is possible!!! Loved the post. ann

How long has Christmas been a commercial endeavor? Did it start after the Savior was slain? Maybe in the catacombs of Rome? idk. Was the original theme of Christ or olde St Nick. Where did it all began?
As for me, there was something special about midnight mass for me until one year when an elderly gent, standing to the read on marble floors, locked is knees and fell asleep standing up, until you heard his head bounced off the floor multiple plunks.

Tom, good to hear from you. Terry.

Hi Terry, I enjoyed it his little piece from you. As always it's very well written and it put a smile on my face. Well now, Christmas has been so commercialised that it's lost all resemblance to what it is all about. Ulla:)))

Thank you for sharing this with us. I enjoyed reading. The amount of Christmas decorations my husband and I put out depend on who's coming for Christmas. We had the little girls, granddaughters, 3 and 5, last year. This year their other grandparents get them, so we will go minimal. Our youngest son will be home, he comes home every year and doesn't even put up a tree in his own apartment. I've even given him an artificial one. Next year, Christmas will be decorated to the hilt. The little girls will return. LOL
I don't ever plan to get rid of the chair. (Are you related to my husband. I have been wanting to get him a new chair for years. His looks horrible.)
used to say humans would be better off if we had an expiration date tattooed on our forehead. (LOL My oldest son, Greg, was heartbroken by a young lady because her dad has orders to move to another Army post. I suggested that when he chooses another girl friend check her dad's PCS date before getting serious. My suggestion didn't improve the situation. LOL)
I hear there is a new one about Santa. (You are so right, and I own it. LOL)

Dancing was banned in the movie Footloose. Well at least until the end of the movie.
I enjoyed your story and much of your philosophies.
I also quit drinking each night, usually by 6:30 though.
Your writing style, Terry is easy and fun to read.
Enjoy your Sunday...

Love the video. i can see we think alike on most things. However, I don't agree with having an expiration date on me. That would alter my thinking. I'd kill myself early trying to make sure everything was okay before I'm gone. This way, I have hopes of reaching my target age of 102. Only 22 years more years to go. hahahaha

I really enjoyed reading this, and I loved the singing cat, aww, so cute. I loved that you gave up drinking at 7:30 last night, lol, I do that every night, and then suddenly there is a reason to celebrate again! I do stick to one an evening, so I don't think I'm an alcoholic! You're only a year older than me, so I'll maybe give up when I'm 77, but then again, maybe not!! Lol. Christmas on your own can be so lonely, I hope you see someone over that period. Happy Christmas, my friend. :)) Sandra xx

So much of our lives are so similar to each other that each of us could be charged with plagiarism. My better half is not very much like your Zoe, and I lack the personal wealth that manage to acquire. As a matter of fact, even though we have never had to struggle for a meal or to pay a bill, I suspect that if I had a billion, my wife would complain that we do not have enough. I loved your story, your clever use of phrases is second to none I have ever witnessed. Mark Twain easily comes to mind when I read you.

Dang, Nomi, Mark Twain? Thank you for the six stars and the comparison, but I think of myself more like a poor Will Rogers. On the other hand, I would be proud to be compared to you. Terry.
-
You know, I think I may have confused the two writers. At age 80, some tings are not as sharp and clear as they once were. I am afraid that being compared to me may not be that great a compliment, maybe more of a curse or demotion. LOL.

Love your sense of humor and take on the golden years of life. I will be eighty next year and have no idea what is going to happen next as my body continues its steady rebellion against good health.
Thank goodness we can still write!
