You are welcome to your opinion. I do not share it.
Quite a lot of people on this site have illnesses and disabities on this site. I sure do. Sally Law, Paul Manton, and others. By the way Jim Vecchio still has his infection. Send a prayer his way. Blessings to you and yours. Karen

I absolutely love this- as I do the person being honored with this magnificent tribute. Debi is a truly unique spirit and a genuine Angel in every sense. I'll never forget the kindness she showed me when I first joined FS and the kindness she shows everyone DAILY.
I second that nomination!

Wow. This gives me more insight into Debi's work, selflessness and generous spirit. I have reviewed several of her birthday poems but didn't know about the surrounding context she is dealing with. Thanks so much for sharing.

This wonderful three-named lady certainly is worthy! She is so adept at her "adopted project" of birthday tributes and her expertise at all things poetry, I never suspected she had been undergoing such health treatment. Debi deserves all our accolades!

I am astounded at the personalized birthday poems she churns out with finesse in such a personal way. I will still read the one she dedicated to me last September. Such a giving spirit. This was a wonderful tribute. Gretchen

If you nominate DPM as I refer to her directly many times, I'm in line to vote.
Absolutely ... 200% my friend!

I knew she was suffering various ailments, but I had no clue of the severity until I read your post!

She remains, always upbeat, always positive, always so damned friendly!
I feel like a fool not knowing what you just posted!

Not to sound corny, but this is family! None of us ever met (maybe some on occasion) but for the most part, no. My heart goes out to her and I want nothing but the best for her!

Cast my vote, my friend...

She has COVID? It's just like her not to mention that to me! When she was at Mayo and mentioned bringing her tablet while receiving treatments/infusions so she could keep up with birthday poems I privately awarded her Angel of the Year!

I often thank her for writing these amazing poems! I'm with you, Terry~ how she manages to lasso all those biographical facts into a poem that warms the hearts of all readers, and especially the recipient, is worthy of any and all awards!

The truly blessed thing is she'd be the last person to expect recognition and will continue shining her light on other members because that's the kind heart she has.

Just look at the joy it brought Ann (Annmuma) ~ when her daughter framed it and set it on an easel for her birthday party! This must have warmed Ann's heart and demonstrated that she has a loving, supportive family here at FanStory!

Perhaps at the end of the year, we could create a book of "thanks" for her and welcome any and all members to contribute by writing a chapter.

The committee will do what it does and likely the criteria are not the same as you and I ~~ (and 99.9% of the reviewers of this post thus far).

Be that as it may. A "Celebrating Debi" book at or near the end of the year would be her PEERS thanking her for all that she does, despite incredibly difficult health issues!

If you like that idea, let me know!

Karenina, I love the idea, but I have no idea how to do it. But IF YOU CREATE IT, THEY WILL COME. Okay, most of them, certainly a bunch will. Some will want free food and drinks, no problem, we will make it a party. Terry.

Point taken. I don't know how to do it either, but I have a month to figure it out. (smile)-- YOU cater and I'll get the book going. Naysayers need not contribute... (smile)

I don't know, Terry. Maybe if you weren't someone who just admitted to not knowing anything about poetry styles, meter counts, and poem types your suggestion would have more merit...

Thankfully, the committee that's doing the judging knows very well about all these facets of good writing and nominates accordingly.

Yeah, you're right. I don't know squat. I'm like my buddy, Ric. I only know what I like.

Dolly will be the #1 ranked poet, and Debi, #2. I love Diane's poetry. I miss RG Star's poetry.

I don't know how they determine the Writer of the Year. Jay Squires won it last year, but he left last month. Humpwhistle has won several times, but he left a few months back. I'm sure they will find someone good, and I'm also dang sure, they will not ask me. Terry.

Just for the record, YOU're the one who said you didn't know squat!

Dolly's poems, like Diane's flow like music. The rhymes are never-but-never forced, the meters are always flawless. I have nothing but the utmost respect and admiration for their talent. Plus, they both abide by the rules at all times. No vote-fishing, no giving away their identities in blind contests. They're like Hershey's kisses. (I got this from a six-year-old piano student of mine. "Know why I like Hershey's kisses? Because you can count on them." Ditto for Dolly and Mrs. KT.) xo

Yes, Debi should be nominated, and many of us will second that. She does an amazing job on the birthday poems, despite her health issues. I like that she shares so much about each person. Praying for her healing. Thanks for sharing. Blessings. Carol
