I admire you for your dedication to love and support your son... heartfelt that to you he more than just a disabled foster child. We had a foster daughter years ago that had cystic fibrosis. I spent many hours pounding her back and chest to release the phelm and gunk in her lungs. Unfortunately she passed away when one episode became just too much for her fragile body. I hope your son continues to improve to the best his body will allow him to be. And he's blessed to be a part of your lives.

Thank you so much for your insightful and very caring review. You understand perfectly, from your own experiences. I am so sorry you lost your foster daughter but I am sure she knew much love during her life. And that?s what matters most.

You have been and will continue to be richly blessed for the love, compassion and care you have provided this young man. You and your family have done everything you possibly could to make his life as pleasant as possible. I admire your stamina. My prayers remain with you, your family, and your foster son.

What a witness you and your family are having on the hospital staff! And how encouraging to see such dedication in that hospital's doctors and nurses to preserve life. I remember in Ancient Rome, they discarded fully healthy babies if the father did not approve. It was the fledgling Christian Church who took those babies, raised them or gave them proper burials. Hugs and prayers for you all.

Thank you so much, dear Helen. I value your support and prayers and I do pray that the medical staff will see the love of Jesus in our care for him.

Your foster son never knew a life other than through the disabilities we see. To him it's all he knows. I do not mean that lightly or sarcastically in any way.

He is a fighter though he may not know it. He is a role model for fo many and as you said, he's the most liked patient in the hospital.
Everyone is doing everything they can to get him back to his lifestyle.

Wendy, you are a saint. I know you love him as if he were your own.

He's in Gods hands...
God bless.
John

You are absolutely right. We all cling to life as we know it, and he?s no different. Yes, he?s in God?s hands and care, and I just want to make sure I don?t preempt Him. Despite all his problems he is loved greatly and cared for and valued. (But I assure you I"m no saint. Lol)

What a wonderful tribute to a young man, bound by disabilities, who still chooses life, the wonderful surgical staff who care for him, and to the compassionate, loving care you and your husband provide now, as you have through the years. God, only, knows fully your value as foster parents.

All things are in God's hands, and He will weigh the thoughts of the prayers being offer, if not for your son for those who follow his word to do unto others, as ... Good luck seems inappropriate, but ... maybe God Speed.

My prayers go out to you and your son. I can't imagine the decisions that you have made. It sounds like the health care system that you have in Australia is a good one.

Perhaps he perseveres as a role model and lesson to others - you did say he was the most popular patient on the ward. He may have more to teach others about living than any of us could teach him.

I know it's hard for you to watch him suffer, but he is soldiering through this and so will you.

I hope this ends soon - one way or the other - for both you and him.

Thank you very much Pam. If at least he teaches others that disabled people have feelings and deserve respect and care, and are valued just as much as others that is something good. Thank you for your very kind and caring words.

Oh, my goodness, what you've all been through. While the pain and discomfort was the young man's to suffer, the emotional trauma you've endured must have taken a heavy toll on you. He is so fortunate to have you to look after him.
