Yeah, you'd have thought he'd've mentioned it at some point!
It can be very disconcerting when you're not used to it. I worked at a school for the deaf years ago and it took me a while to adjust. It's also the only time in my life where I was clean-shaven for more than couple of weeks to ease the trouble with lip-reading.

Well done! You told a wonderful true story about how we perceive a person's closeness as inappropriate when what was the truth was they were lip reading and were deaf.
This shows how we need to speak clearly and understand those who are deaf or hard of hearing. Thanks for sharing this helpful tale to let us know we may have good intentions when we seem awkward and misunderstood.

This story, Paying Attention, is so funny when we find out why the situation was there. I could only think of my oldest brother who had no idea about personal space and would loom over people.
