Your "I'll Always Love You" 5-7-5 Haiku Suite seems to be perfect. Good work.
I like the first stanza best - uh, what other mother do you know?
Good luck in the contest.

Hi Wayne, my kids used to tell me all the time that I was the best mom they knew, because they saw how some others yelled at their kids and weren't as loving. So actually they knew quite a few. Lol, even their own grandmother, they would would say, that mother of dads is certainly a bad mother and she isn't too great at being a grandma either. And to tell you the truth, she sucked at being a mother in-law too. Hahaha!
Thanks for the awesome review Wayne, and sorry about being so long winded but once I get one my MIL's subject, I am done for. Lol

This is a clever choice for the haiku suite! I've never come across this brief before but I have no doubt that yours fits the brief and is a moving illustration of constant love over the years. Poignant and heart-warming! Well done and good luck! Debbie

HI Debbie, I hope I don't confuse you too much, but the post that you reviewed has been changed. The reason, I got a couple messages saying that it wasn't a true haiku, as it didn't have the surprise satori ending. The truth is I am not a haiku person, and I was afraid of getting disqualified. Could you please tell me if this is more what they are looking for?
Thanks again, dear friend and I appreciate your kind review and comments.
And lol, how many people can say they reviewed one poem, but by the time they got thanked, it was a different one. Hehehe~

This was a very good posting of a haiku suite. The Bible, in original languages, has several terms for "love". We have that one term, and use it to honor parents/family, give affection to loved ones, and as a special term for a spouse. You covered them all!

I will check it right now.

'i read the revision and thought it was perfectly done.. However, I liked the first version also. I think some readers take things to seriously. For instance, one person does haiku with one less syllable and says it's okay for English haiku. Others stick strictly to 5-7-5. It's in the eye of the beholder!

Thank you so much Jim!

I wish I could do more but I learn something new every day from this site.

Hey Jim, I have been here over two years and since haiku isn't my normal writing, it is a good lesson. And the one thing I try to do everyday is learn something new. So this is a good one for both of us. Take care my sweet friend and thank you for your taking a look at me.

I don't think a day has gone by on this site without my learning something new. I've learned so much alr3dy about forms of poetry I never knew existed!

Wait....is this dude trying to marry his mother? Ha!!!!
That is totally how I first read it. Grotty gross gross...unless you're from Kentucky, then it's just June. Oh my I'm on a role.
Great piece for the prompt! Good luck! D

Ok, Douglas. I wondered about using that phrase and you were the perfect one to try it out on. I love your honest answer as you should have seen me look for another phrase as I scrambled for the edit button! Hahaha!
Thanks my friend!
