Loved your post, John! You're our Fanstory chef! And unusual calendar notifier! (Did Kaiku really appear on Good Morning, America? I'm never up that early.)
Enjoyed your history and the interesting bit about the peels. Because that part has the most pesticide exposure, I wouldn't eat it for that reason. I actually rinse the darn peel! But the inside of the peel has lots of oils for shining up house plant leaves.

Wow. I wish I knew your info on the peels and plants. I would have included that!
Thank you, Helen for reading and sharing.

Thank you for sharing National Banana Day with us. I am a huge fan of bananas. I struggle with low potassium so eat a lot of them. I am maxed out on prescription potassium pills.

Take a ripened, peeled banana, mash it in a bowl, add two or three tablespoons of heavy cream, sprinkle cinnamon and blend together.
I sometimes add a package of apple flavored instant oatmeal. (I have made banana pancakes before but never added apple flavored instant oatmeal. I'll have try that.)

Happy Banana Day! I think I will have a banana with my gluten-free oatmeal this morning now that you mention this. As far as a banana split goes. I'm gonna have to pass. I'm allergic to milk. Maybe an ice cream substitute. Love your post and of course, the banana-themed songs! I delightful post for my reviewing day. Sending along my very best to you as always, Sally :)))

Terrific, John! I love reading your food pieces. They get my mouth watering.

Certain cereals like Rice Chex and Corn Flakes I always put a cut-up banana on. It just improves them immensely. I'm going to try your banana pancake idea. Sounds great!

I wonder who made up these 1,500 event days and how they chose the dates? The whole thing is very amusing. I think you should try to get on one of these shows like Kaiku and share some of your recipes. They would be very popular segments.

Keep these coming from time to time. They are so informative and great! Jim

LOL. John, I am surprised you did not try to combine National Grilled Cheese Day with National Banana Day. As creative as you are in the kitchen, this suggestion seemed like natural. I will consider it a minor 'slip-up'. Well done. Terry.

I loved your write to champion bananas, I am a huge fan. They are the quickest way to take the edge off your appetite and used by body buildings and fitness fanatics all the time, they are nutritious, sweet and yummy, I loved your recipes and I never eat them with icecream, but I loved your ideas. And of course those old songs! All in all this is an entertaining read John, much enjoyed, love Dolly x

You crack me up, too, John! Lol. I never knew about banana skins. Like most people, I threw them away. I'll try to them now. I do love my bananas on my porridge and on top of other serials. And of course that lovely banana split! But also, just picking up a banana, pealing it and eating it naturally. I enjoy your recipe's John, this one was lovely. :)) Sandra xx

This article, National Banana Day, is quite informative and interesting. I think most people aren't aware of the banana's history or healthy use. Glad I read this.

Fan Story Ulla wrote a story about her grandfather and his parents and their son from Cape Cod brought the item into America. They did well with their adventure. I eat one every morning to start my day. Some time I use the peeling as fertilizer for my roses. Thanks for sharing your post.
