You have met the criteria for this contest. Two characters in love in an imaginative environment. The grade school setting brings back memories. There is no room for improvement. Have a blessed day.

I liked this little story. The "what if" concept haunts most of us but trying to follow up can have disastrous results. Your story is beautiful and innocent but also a little sad as are most such tales of regret. Well done.

This romance was so sweet and almost innocent. I hate to think that it is wrong. You did a great job describing the emotions. Thank you so much for sharing this here, and best wishes to you.

It's sad that they could not share their problems with their own spouses. I guess there's something about their own relationships that needed the friendship that only they found in each other. You told this story well. Best wishes in the contest!

It is easy to see this happening. It often does between co-workers and the sad thing is the guilt they likely both feel and the fear of being found out. The spouses have to suspect they aren't the only one anymore so I can't see this kind of love working out in the end. You have done what the contest required and the story is easy to read and but then it also easy to feel sympathy for two spouses and wonder how you would see this if you were one of them.

Good insight for a continuation to the story.

This was terribly romantic, and not out of the realm of possibility at all! The prompt asks for a "fictional world" for them to be in love in, so I guess carrying on their romance at their school (now abandoned) is that fictional world. Having them share this relationship without giving up their families is also realistic; you even mention that they swap stories about their children.

I think this will do well in the contest. Good luck!

Sounds like unconditional love gone astray. Thank you for sharing this writing prompt with us. It gives a new meaning to love. I am wondering how long something like this can go undetected.

Probably not long before someone makes a mistake.
    Thanks for reading.

This work has reached the exceptional level

that was an engrossing love story of two people who did love each other in a special way. It sounds like two schoolteachers involved in clandestine meetings, or perhaps their ghosts. Anyway it is a well written tale. Evi

So, a peck on the cheek turned into a hidden romance. I got lost in the story and was rooting for them to leave their families and get together once and for all. But, alas, they were happy with their current spouses and could not hurt their children so they kept it to themselves and that is how the story ends.
I suppose this contest only asks for romance and doesn't need it to conclude with the end of the perfect romance. Oh well, it was fun while it lasted.

It's only Wednesday, and I've run out of 6s, otherwise I'd give this one, John. I loved it. Such a neat story. Makes you wonder if a man and a woman can ever be just friends without a component of love in the mix. Now I wonder about Abby and E.J. Could they possibly have had such a love that they kept hidden?
