Your poem is excellent in every respect--skillfully and creatively composed, vividly descriptive, and expressive in its reverent message of faith in the Lord.

Just beautiful, dearest. Such a needed word for today in a land, sea, and sky full of distress. God is faithful, ever still. We will never be let go! Sending you my very best and blessings in Christ,

Dearest Sal, I thank you so much for your beautiful and encouraging six-star review, and for your very meaningful comments. I am blessed to have you as a sister in Christ! Writing this poem was something I needed to do as an expression of my faith in God and my hope in Christ, both as a testimony to others, and for courage in this journey which has become fraught with troubles and sometimes anguish of soul. I had to remind myself to look up. When I shared it with Jorge, he became frightened that I was too distressed, but when I told him I planned to post it, he was relieved and realized it was still my creativity at work -- and that he shouldn't be too alarmed. Besides, I need to post more often, even though it's difficult, when life demands more of me these days, and it will, until certain issues we're facing are resolved -- by the grace of God. Yes, God is faithful.
Love and blessings in Christ to you too, Mary Kay xoxo

Hello Mary, I am not on Fanstory at present through health reasons and reading your poem is so uplifting. I do not always enjoy reading this kind of poem but you have done this beautifully. Well written, good rhyme and meter and just the right amount of religious content. Good accompanying author notes. Good Luck in the contest - Dorothy x

Hi Duchess, thank you so much for your kind and excellent review of my poem. I appreciate your lovely, meaningful and concerned comments, as well. Our family is going through some difficult challenges in life, but basically as I've expressed in the poem, the Lord Jesus Christ is our strength, our hope and our comfort.
As a hymn writer said, "On Christ the solid rock I stand, all other ground is sinking sand..."
We're getting on, one day at a time. I hope that you're doing well, my friend. May God bless you.
Love, Mary Kay xoxo
Hi Mary Kay, you're more than welcome.
I'll pray your problems will be solved soon. With Our Lord's help you should go from strength to strength.
Bless you and a hug,
the Duchess xoxo

Thank you, Duchess, for your beautiful encouragement and prayers. You have such a sweet picture. You must be a real Duchess, probably the only one I know. We don't have too many here in the USA ;-) Blessings and hugs to you, too!
Mary Kay, my possum you're welcome. I'm hoping my prayers are doing some good. Jesus is so loving I don't see how they can't be.
Real Duchesses aren't thick on the ground in Australia either :)))
Blessings and hugs to you too!

Oh, you're an Aussie! I'm sure your prayers are helping already. Yes, Jesus is loving, indeed. May His blessings to you be multiplied!
Yes an Aussie. I'm hoping my prayers will help.
God willing. We'll both be blessed!

Amen.
Amen to you too my new never met friend.

This is a lovely poem of faith, understanding that nothing can separate us from the love of Christ , and His peace which passes understanding. Lots of beautiful Scripture promises as well. Best wishes for the contest.

I commend you on your faith and for the insightful and thorough follow-up you provide via scriptures. It shows you aren't just talking the talk but that you have read and taken time with the word. This poem is a solid entry for the faith poetry contest. It shows how your beliefs bolster you in trying times. It takes courage to choose faith over fear and to see light through despair, which is the feeling/ reminder I get from reading this. The only potential critique would be the wording in the second to last section. It seemed a little awkward at first, but after re-reading it more carefully it does flow. Might be that I read it too quickly the first time. Good luck in the contest! I enjoyed your poem very much!

Dear Lori, thank you for your kind, meaningful and excellent review of my poem. I appreciate your careful reading of it. I did take special care with the wording, and I thank you for your attention to its various aspects -- including how you've looked into the deeper meaning of my words, as well as the Bible verses. Faith is an important part of our lives. Faith is the understanding, deep down within, that things will turn out all right for us no matter what the situation might be. God is said to be the ultimate being in existence, perfect in power, and character.I enjoyed your well thought out, well-structured poem on faith. Good luck in the contest.

Thank you very much, Seshadri, for your excellent and beautiful review. It is true that my faith is in a hoped-for outcome, or set of outcomes; but more than anything else, my faith is in the person of Jesus Christ, who was God coming down to us in human form. I appreciate your fine characterization of God, which was part of your review of my poem. He gives me every reason to be hopeful. May He bless you, my friend. - Mary Kay

Love the conviction of faith in your poem, Mary Kay! It has the feeling of the psalms expressing the depth of the fear and the pit of despair but always ending with the firm sense of God's presence and rescue. Also, thank you for the verses, too.
We're praying for safety for the East Coast as Henri is en route.

Thank you so much, Helen, for your exceptional six-star review of my poem. Comparing its feeling to that of the psalms is lovely praise indeed, and deeply appreciated. It's a heart cry for God's help, and I felt it was time to express it. My husband actually became alarmed when I first shared it with him, until I told him that I intended to post it on FanStory. Only then was he relieved of HIS anxiety -- the idea that I wrote it as a private release of emotion alone, was too distressing for him to absorb.
I thank you & your family especially for praying that we will be spared any danger from Henri -- Jorge will appreciate that, too! The approaching hurricane has us somewhat on edge. God bless you all.
Love, Mary Kay xoxo

A powerful profession of faith--fine entry for the contest--I appreciate your original phrasing--so much in the spiritual genre is repetitive--this is a refreshing exception.

Thank you very much for this excellent, encouraging and compassionate review, Linda. My friend, the horde is real enough (and of deep concern), but even beyond that, my husband and I have a whole set of issues, that vary widely in the degree to which I can discuss them; from my mother?s dilemmas with long-term health care and diminishing funds (which is not an uncommon or especially private issue) to a range of other matters that might make your hair stand on end. We really need God?s help, a ton of grace and a lot of prayer. We are, at this point, living by faith. Thank you for your beautiful review, and God bless you! Love, Mary Kay xoxo
