This is a beautiful free verse poem Senyai, full of emotional, descriptive language. I really love the line -
each massive trunk a pall bearer's gown.
Beautifully done,
cheers.

Thank you very much, so happy you enjoyed my poem :-)

I really loved this poem... I tend to have a harder time with shorter poems just not having the build up time that longer ones have so I really appreciate the people who can do justice to the shorter forms. I loved the line "trees breath-silent standing."

Hi JennStar,
Oh, thank you for this amazing review and compliments! You have made my evening!
I was hoping I did justice to e e cummings as he liked to write his poetry in his own invented style and spellings, although I didn?t take his form that
far :))
Thank you again for an exceptional and perceptive review.
Have a great week!

Hello Senyai.
The metaphor of time passing represented as rings in the trees is well conceived. I have always been curious about Cumming's poetry and style. He made the rules he deemed important to his writing. I like that.

Hi Robert,
Yes, I agree. Cummings is one of my favorite modern poets. He was his own creative force ?
Thank you so much for an outstanding review and thoughts :-)

Your poem captured my attention and my imagination and I enjoyed reading it. It flowed beautifully with painting pictures with your words. I loved your artwork choice. It spoke to me, as stars often do. Best wishes!

What a beautiful picture you have chosen to illustrate your poem. Your words so accurately describe the trees and the star-filled sky. One can almost picture themselves there.

I love the nature imagery and presentation.
"wrapping up time... in quiet rings" ...such great metaphor. Love it!
Besides japanese poetry, free verse is my favorite. Well done my friend. Great entry for the Free Verse Poetry Contest. Good luck!

Hello Senyai!
Simply outstanding!
How I love the imagery in your Free Verse poetic offering!
My husband and I have lived for over 32 years surrounded by hardwood trees high on a bluff overlooking Grand Traverse Bay in northern Michigan.
Such grandeur as the trees stand or bend to the whim of Mother Nature and man...I bow to them...
Glorious...
Thank you!

Hi Diane,
Oh my, your beautiful review and perceptive thoughts are treasures! I am so glad you enjoyed it. I was almost afraid to post as it was so short.
So glad I bit the bullet and did. Your lovely homestead sounds magical. I can only imagine the grandeur of overlooking that bluff. I love the sky as the trees stand silent against it. It feeds the soul.
Thank you for the gift of six, Diane. It frankly made my evening!
Have a great week,

This is beautiful and I think, a wonderful ode to the tree to whom we owe so very much-our very lives. Good and beautiful writing and thought provoking words with a beautiful picture.

In my opinion, an 'Exceptional' write, beautifully and smoothly articulated in descriptive free verse flow. The presentation is stunning in its entirety and complies fully with the prompt. Best wishes in the contest with this poetical study of nature...

As the trees continue to age, gathering the rings that denote the passage of time, they continue to provide the precious oxygen that we on earth desperately need. A pox on the foolish men who desecrate our supply of trees for selfish gain, who never replenish our supply. They are literally choking the earth, as they murder our supply of trees.
