It was really hard for me not to laugh out loud when you got to the proverbial "punch" line in your story. I trust your husband did not get hurt when his chair broke. Good that the night ended on a trip to the theater to see Ken Howard's one-man show. Good luck in the contest.

I enjoyed the humorous twist at the end - but I felt it was too short of a story and it could've used more background leading up to the twist. I'd like to learn more about different ways the husband avoids PDA that would draw even more contrast with his behavior at the end. Keep at it!
