well written thoughts of the 200,000. Somehow the numbers seem to not hit the public. We seem not to mourn the lost.
The families left behind are left to mourn alone.

And so it seems, dear poet, some families are left to mourn alone...their loved ones are just a cold number.

This is a sad story of grief and sorrow. Death allows much sorrow, but death should not be allowed to overwhelm and overshadow the rest of our life. Memories are cherished, death shelved.

Numbers are just that, numbers. But give those numbers, faces, families, homes, and suddenly those numbers become something so much more. To visualise a field of faces, all dead, that is a horrific picture. Wars, viruses, death, it has to stop. This was very well written, Amada, and makes me feel small just reading it. I do hope they are all resting peacefully in God's presence now. Warm hugs, my friend. Sandra xx

It is the same everywhere .In India since the denominator is so large the percentage does not appear to be alarming. But 100 000 is large and as you said each of them has a face and personality...A very touching writing.

Thank your for sharing your mourning and ability to relate to the magnitude of the loss with your husband's help with visualizing a jampacked, football stadium and your own memories of visiting the Vietnam Memorial Wall. I appreciate your allowing us to better comprehend the concept of "rest in peace". Sighs- Joan

I do understand, Nancy. It is so tragic. When I read about the makeshift morgues in New York /City, I wanted to cry. I feel so helpless an dyet I know there is nothing we can do but wait for God to send us a vaccine or something. Meanwhile, the clock and the numbers keep ticking away. Bless you and your hubby, Nan. Such a sad and touching write, dear Amada. It's hard to relate to large numbers. But as you so eloquently describe, each number is a human being, a member of our tribe here on Earth.
Thank you for sharing the depths of your loving heart.
Stay safe my friend
Blessings Julia

Yes, I felt the same when I visited the same memorial back in 1995. It was on my one and only trip overseas from Australia. The atmosphere there was sombre and still. Two ladies from the group I was with asked a guide to direct them to their nephew's name on the wall. Which he did. We watched from a decent distance, but joined them in silent prayer as they stood beside their loved one's name and asked a blessing upon his soul.
It was the most moving experience of the whole trip, one I'll never forget.
Thank you for reminding me. cheers Cass
