Wow! What an epic story. I came of age around the same time much of this story took place. I was in the Air Force from 1960 to 1964. I serves 18 months in Okinawa before it became Japan. Unlike the hero in this story I made a point of not having a love interest while in the military serving overseas. By the time I was discharged, I started a brand new chapter in my life that was nothing like any part of my past life.I totally approve of tis great love and life story.

This is an amazing conclusion to a part of your story that I apparently missed! I found it riveting, and I wish I had a six to give you, but I think you're well on your way to success. I'm a little confused about whether Cathy just died in the story, or also in real life? I hope not, but if it's true, I'm so sorry, Bill. Your poem is just heart-wrenching and incredibly beautiful -- a commando poet!
I love your wedding story. Daisies are my favorite, and were a feature at my wedding, too. My husband and I didn't jump over my grandmother's broom, however -- that's a tradition I've never heard of! I didn't realize that you'd had twins, either -- how wonderful!
I loved the video clip of JFK's inaugural address. At the age of three, I would have been a little too young to appreciate it. And I did enjoy hearing the recording you also included, of Dolly Parton.
