Five stars for this touching chapter of course, but more for your achievement. Writing a novel is like running a marathon. A thousand hours of training, a thousand little details to shape--I know; I've done both. And that doesn't even count all the hours of mulling, dreaming, remembering, thinking, pondering, researching..... And we do this for fun! Congratulation to you both, on crossing the finish line! This chapter was a mix of happy and sad events. It is great that Bill got to come home and received a new, special assignment. The words he read from his writing when he was 13 showed how much he loved and was connected to his twin brother. So many 'things' happening in this chapter. But they all fit together. I know the last chapter will be great!

This chapter was a mix of happy and sad events. It is great that Bill got to come home and received a new, special assignment. The words he read from his writing when he was 13 showed how much he loved and was connected to his twin brother. So many 'things' happening in this chapter. But they all fit together. I know the last chapter will be great!

New life - the twins that will have a new chance because of the soldiers have risked their own for the greater good. I was wondering how come that Billy got twins, but now we know there was another case in the family. Thank you for sharing and good luck with your next chapter.

This is an AWESOME chapter, Bill and Cathy. The poignancy of all the events is evident. The way both POV's weaves throughout the finished chapter is amazing. I can see everything that is included.
The surprise announcement of Bill's newest assignment is great. It is well-expressed with many details. I believe Bill's commander knows the superior job Bill will do. Not only is it an honor, but the fact that his buddy and friend Mark is one of those heroes is poignant. I remember how Bill spoke of Mark before and how he died in his arms. The 'banter' about what dessert Grandma would serve is great. It makes the discussion feel so real and down to earth.
Bill's story he found among the papers in his writing book that Grandpa kept is another heart-wrenching event. I can see Bill reading the words and feel his pain and that of Cathy as he reads it. What a traumatic event to have experienced at such a young age. I believe Grandpa had no fear of the two boys going fishing from the bridge they pass over many times in their daily routines on the farm.. The lines about placing Bobby's picture in his coffin are real tear-jerkers although an important part of the story and a memory forever etched in Bill's heart and mind. The loss of one twin makes the seriousness of little Angel's health issues even more heartbreaking.
The 'Welcome Home My Children' is so well a part of the true to life feelings of Bill with his deep faith. The 'demons' he experiences remind readers about PTSD suffered by military men and women. Hopefully, Bill's is put to rest in the next chapter--if that is ever possible.
I'm intrigued by what's in the letter Bill is to share with Cathy. I'm praying for Angel and all of the the other characters in this novel. With the final chapter so close, I will miss this AWESOME family story. The great details, the expert delivery, the reflections on history with the videos, and the love of family has been an enoyable experience.
The videos are excellent choices to accompany this chapter. I'm so proud that this novel is published. CONGRATULATIONS on an excellent collaborative project. I look forward to the final chapter.
