I read this poem as if you are personifying the Moai heads themselves; giving them a voice. I imagine this is what they could be saying..."a celestial warrior, seeking the wisdom path"... They truly are mysterious.

The imagery was really well done in this poem. You have these monoliths, mysterious, archaic, looking forward and backward across time, almost like guardians of your soul. There's black holes and bottomless pits, space travelers across time and space and you seem to contemplate these things through the eyes of these stone monoliths that are a constant in the changing landscape. In many ways I think it speaks of the contemporary idea that each individual can invent his/her own mythology. estory

A lovely poem. I remember learning of these sculptures years ago, and I remember having the argument, are they extraterrestrial beings, were they carved by extraterrestrials, or are they of the native peoples there. I love the photography; it gives a person the sense of something strange or magnificent happened here. I love the line, "emoting to the celestial travelers make space for our nighttime sojourn. It's as if we were visited by aliens some night and they were repulsed by how violent a people we are, left their hello, and left the earth, never to return. You've written such a wonderful poem. Good luck in the contest and all of your writing.
