A very powerful poem that hits on many areas of contention in our country now. Which side of the line one stands depends so much on what comes from inside oneself, not just on facts taught in schools. History is shaded by the group you, your family, your community grew up in. This is a brilliant 20 line poem with its strong message and presentation. The world is in chaos and it's all deliberately controlled by darkness, including greedy and power hungry mentalities. Goodness, however, is going will be having the last say. Meanwhile, innocent people are terrorized, and the youth of nations are being brainwashed. It is so sad.

This is a beautiful cry for tolerance of a different kind, isn't it.
I am all for protests - -wholeheartedly behind our right to express our dissatisfaction with the status quo. But to rewrite history ... what are they thinking? Do they realize that if they set this precident, their offspring's offspring may decide to delete THEM? I want equal equality -- no 'blacks only' days on university campuses, no whites only days, either. No blacks only writing contests, no whites only, either.
When did 'equal' return to 'separate but equal'? What a step backwards we are fixing to take. It saddens me.
Ranting over. Great poem!

    Debora, yes as atennager fo the 60's I too am all for peaceful protests. But when protests turn anything but peaceful and lawlessness is the main goal with these splinter groups they are not doing social justice and social reform any good,

Your count above is 1, 2, 3, 5, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1.

My point being you skipped the four word line and gave us two five word lines instead. Easily corrected by changing "It is time to write" to "It's time to write."

I checked the count twice but even I can't be sure I got it all right! (I do enjoy counting word or syllable poems myself!)

As for your theme... This is a difficult time for America. COVID-19, political divide, racial tension... We've been here before. I have faith we'll emerge stronger than ever.

Your poem carries an important message for all. The lines read well with great detail. I like the way you formatted this message. The image is a perfect accompaniment. I like the way this draws to a close, too. It is important for all Americans to realize and support the fact that we cannot allow our flag and country to be stomped on by those that don't know her history and/or don't care. Thanks for sharing.

All country's glory days are assured of one day failing Jim, if the dream of the people fails, you know why, I'm a non-nationalist, because with faith in my country will one day, because they have people living in them, nationalism has caused all wars. One person blamed religion, but that doesn't hold water, God tore down the iron curtain, they are no less nationalistic than America, I'm British born, but they are not as great anymore either, but nationalistic, but I still love my country, and would defend her shores, I'd rather be patriotic to a land that cannot fail.     Roy, I my good Aussie friend, I served in the military for GOD, Country and Flag, I would do it again because America still is, although tainted, one nation under God. Not fifty fiefdoms,not white America or Black America just America, we are seeing Marxist tyranny run amok right now, I believe it will be stopped.

I don't imagine this poem would be popular with a lot of people because it seems you're against tearing down statues and defunding the police. But you're absolutely correct, freedom ain't free and it doesn't come cheap. Very nice job. Good luck in the contest.
