There's not much information to go on in these 50 words. There is something ominous about her saying he should be thankful for being saved "second," which makes us wonder why there is no first saved guy mentioned and what that meat was made of.

I feel stories this short require the reader to do half the work of making the tale work.

Oh dear, Bill, To eat another human for survival! Well, it's not an unknown thing in recent history. The flight that crashed in the Andes, the survivors did just that. Well, to survive! I suppose we would all be able to do it when the survival instinct kicks in. All best. Ulla:)))

I caught on at 'cooked meat'. Obviously, you were being strategically unspecific as to the nature of the meat. The end reminds me of the old joke about two guys trying to outrun a bear.

Your picture pairs nicely with your words. Somehow I suspect I did not grasp the full meaning of being saved "second." It is so hard to tell the whole story when you are restricted to 50 words.

I enjoy this short story, even as is includes a near drowning. Is as somebody tells it with a winking eye. There is a lot of meaning those few words for the reader to think about. I feel honored to provide the illustration.
