Hello Commando. This chapter runs the gamut on danger. You start out with a rabid wild boar and end up with a tornado. That's quite a swing. I was deployed once in an area where there were wild boars and we took precautions against them because they are vicious. My grandpa used to call rabies, hydrophobia.

I'll come back to see if the tornado gets them but at least they escaped the boar.

Robert

That is something I've never seen, and don't want to!! LOL. I see them on the news, and that's as close as I'll be getting. I hope Bill and Cathy can get out of its way! I enjoyed the fun and frolicking having a lovely picnic, and it was wonderful that Bill survived that wild boar attack and the rabies. Reading your very enlightening notes of rabies, it's not something anyone would want to go through. Another excellent part, my friends, well done! :)) Sandra xx

This is an excellent chapter, Bill and Cathy. Its presentation is professional in all areas. The information that precedes the beginning is direct and useful to readers. The 'Previously' catches readers up from the last chapter and urges them on to read this one. The 'Special Note' and 'Rabies Brief' both provide pertinent information to understand the authors' writing.

Even in the face of a life and death situation, Billy's personality doesn't waiver. I like the way he referred to the boar as 'Porky Pig'. In all seriousness, though, he relied on his training and upbringing to survive.
He is well aware of the imminent danger; and, Grandpa is right there with him in spirit guiding him through it. I like the ******* to denote flashbacks. In this case, readers learn more about the wild boars and the strength and love between Grandpa and Billy. The hospital scene where Grandpa kisses Grandma was sweet and further showed their life-long love for each other. Though they kid each other, as only they can, readers know their deep love and respect for each other is present in all they do and say.

The picnic scene gave readers a clear picture of the scenery and how much Billy and Cathy appreciate it and know that God created all. Readers see another example of how Billy loves the land, how important his faith in God is, and how much he loves Cathy. The line 'smell the sweetness of the wild flowers on the summer wind' is a perfect example of his feelings.

The description of the funnel cloud as it approached was handled well. After a day where they had much to celebrate, the potential devastation it could cause left readers wondering would they survive. That is a great way to introduce the cliffhanger and entice readers to return to learn of the outcome.

Thank you, Bill and Cathy for sharing your talents in writing this collaborative novel. Both POV's worked well together. I look forward to reading the next chapter.

The book cover design is awesome. I know when I see it what novel this chapter is from in the way of setting, characters, and how the land influenced all the generations. Billy is a prime example of those attributes. I love the 'country' feel evident in this novel.

I look forward to reading the next chapter each time I come to the end of the current one.

Respectfully with Love and Admiration,
Laura Jan

You two sure like that nail biting endings. You go from one disaster to the next. The people I've known who are bitten by a rabid animal have to get painful shots in their stomach for weeks. This seems to have been taken care of quickly. As for the tornado, we had some of those come through last weekend. Parts of Chattanooga got destroyed. We be months rebuilding. I look forward to the next installment.

This is just wonderful; beautiful, sweet... oh, I am at loss for wordings. The story-line flowed very well. You did a great job with this.

Some points;
"There's heaps of 'em here." I noted that in your starting statement, you made mention that some of the wordings for the Snowy Mountain folks. Is that one of them? If not, I believe, "There're heaps of 'em here" would be a better replacement.

In this paragraph: "Of course, I will!....... You may want to replace "significent" with "significant."

In the following paragraph, you may want to add an "s" to the "tusk," so that, "Its tusk were long" would now read "its tusks were long"

Again, is "For shure" a statement written in Snowy Mountain folks way? Or did you meant to write "For sure." Same question goes to "get a goin' down." If not "get going down" would be a better replacemnt.

Finally, guess you meant "So, just keep on kissin' me" in: "So, just keep on a kissin' me." And "a funnel of cloud" in: "There's a funnel cloud on the ground."

The aforementioned might be very minor, but if put in place, would make your story sound and read better.

This piece of yours is just beautiful!

Favorite line: A gentle breeze blew through the trees as we kissed the grease from one another's lips.
Aww, c'mon, porky pig
I think you want to capitalize this to Porky Pig, as I assume it is a teasing reference to the cartoon character. A tornado would scare the snot out of me, too. I am wondering if you might want to add a detail about it being a cold wind, or a hot wind, depending on what it was. In Utah, we had a cold wind for a brief tornado about 20 years ago.

This is one adventure Billy should have tried to avoid. The situation was dire and he braved the confrontation. Obviously, he was on the losing end if he wakes up in the hospital. Hopefully, in time to be treated.

Hmmm, this is interesting. Here in Texas every so often we get notices about rabies infecting our wild animals. It's sort of common. At least a couple times a year. Once again the writing is good. I enjoyed reading.
