Goodness, you done it again...left us hanging. I hope the next chapter will bring lots of good expectations again. Like when is the bundle of joy coming....being it's having complications, it might come early? Onto the next chapter....

That would be so sad if Cathy lost her baby. The first child that God sends us is so precious. They all are, but that first one is the one that makes two people become a family. I had to laugh at the part about her giving grandpa hell. You built the characters up so well that I could picture it in my mind. Grandma yapping a mile a minute and grandpa ducking her blows. It's always heart-breaking to think of those who have given all in service to the people of the US. It's one of the bravest acts of all. God bless them all.
One note for you (well, two):
He tied one end of the rope around his mule's neck, then made a slip knot in the other end. He said it would make it easier for Grandma to put it over her head, then (cinch) it around her waist.
--> I'm sorry, guys. This would not work. The mule would strangle to death and Grandma would not survive either, I'm pretty sure. You'd have to have a collar on the mule and attach the rope to that. And Grandma would slip the rope under her armpits.
--> make sure you see (cinch) is the proper spelling
