Reading this I thought of all the wives of soldiers who went to war and left them desperate to get them home alive. Your story shows how hard it is to be parted from the man you so desperately love. I loved the part with Grandpa, I like him, he reminds me of my late Poppa. I look forward to reading the next part. Well done both of you. xxx Sandra

I liked your story. It has a lot's of descriptions. It was easy to follow. You don't use searched language which makes it easy to read. :). I just got lost in this part:
"Why is she not answering him, Bill?"
"Because she's got a headache tonight, Cathy."
"Well, if she doesn't answer him soon, he'll run on down to her...and they'll make whoopie."
I think the transitions between the bold part and the ones who are not bold could be improved. Thank you for the video. Keep writing!

I liked your story. It has a lot's of descriptions. It was easy to follow. You don't use searched language which makes it easy to read. :). I just got lost in this part:

My heart just breaks for you both. Bill in Vietnam, is too much to contemplate, but in this timeframe, I saw it coming. I was hoping for a medical discharge or something. My stepbrother, Steve, died from Agent Orange related cancer. He was a Green Beret and a fine man, too. A good, meaty chapter written with great heart and longing! I hope they marry soon!

Hi Tootie. I've become a fan of the story because Bill would be one of my contemporaries. I was drafted in 1967 at the height of the Vietnam War. I like the storytelling that you're doing. One part of the story that brought a big smile to my face was the teenagers breaking into the barn and drinking moonshine. The first time I was offered moonshine was in Johnson City, TN. That whole part of the story made me laugh out loud because all I had to do was take a whiff of the moonshine and that was enough. I will keep following to the end of the story. Robert

Hi Tootie. I've become a fan of the story because Bill would be one of my contemporaries. I was drafted in 1967 at the height of the Vietnam War. I like the storytelling that you're doing. This is the BEST chapter, so far, Cathy and Bill ! I love the way the author's info, the background, and the previously are always included to remind readers, or invite new ones, about what has happened in the novel.
The idea of diary entries makes this one so personal, too, as that is what a diary if for. You and Bill did an excellent job with each entry/story. The entries read just as though we, the readers, had found your diaries and read these words.
Readers get a true impression of Cathy's love for Bill and his love for Cathy. Memories in a diary reveal true feelings. We see how the consummation of their love affected both in a true to life way. That, for sure, is what would be written in a diary! Those details add so much in the way of feelings, trust, interest, and hints of where the story may be heading.
Readers feel the anguish Cathy has about Bill leaving once again for training, then being in Vietnam when Grandpa's birthday will be celebrated. What a grand idea to give him a hearty celebration--that will make him feel special, as he is, and for a few minutes take his mind off missing Bill.
The tour of Nashville was detailed in a great way--readers felt as if they were on the tour with you. The historical information was super. I didn't know that much about it before. The video highlighting Uncle Jimmy Thomson was a great choice to set the time period and was enjoyable to hear how 'things' were in 1964. The discussion of Oral Roberts and Joan Crawford, also, reminded readers of the time. The research into the time/setting is awesome. Thanks for sharing with readers. The inclusion of Cathy being saved was awesome as faith is so strong of a bond in Bill's family!
Bill's speeches, both in regular font and bold, paint an awesome picture of his character. Readers get more details of his true character and understand that his actions are part of who is and will always be! Anyone who speaks of his love for his love, like Bill does, is a 'keeper.' Love is the Greatest Gift!
