I so wish your positive words "Now you are calmly centered after all the ups and downs all that is left feels right" are true. I fear for many it is a horrendous struggle to just get through the day. Here's hoping your words are not read by blind eyes.

We all need to take comfort from whatever source we can in these trying times of mental onslaught, so if the positive words in this small poem can help someone get through their day, then I am so glad I wrote it. And I am so glad that you took the time to review it. Thank you Victor.

Abraham Lincoln is given credit for saying, "Most people are about as happy as they decide to be". I like that. You are most welcome.
-
Good old Honest Abe. There is much truth in that saying.

I to am an optimist. This presentation was very clever. The carefully chosen words accentuated by the photo gave me much to think about. Yes, gray skies are going to clear up. Thanks for sharing.

There are plenty of bumps and twists and turns and changes of direction on life's highway, but being positive and looking ahead can help negotiate the journey. Thanks for your review.

This 20 syllable piece made me smile. Thanks for all the good wishes. Isn't that the way life is??? You go through times when the road is crazy crooked then finally it seems to go as straight as an arrow. A time of regrouping, believing in life and knowing there is hope for tomorrow. The once constant is: life continually changes. Thanks for sharing, really like the graphic. :)

Life is an ever changing journey all right. We really do have to believe that there is hope for tomorrow, no matter how dark and hopeless today might feel.
My poem was triggered by a road trip I did last weekend out to a beach I hadn't been to before, along a very winding road with steep ascents and descents and sharp corners. There were so many advisory road signs that I started to see them as instructions for life. I didn't use the image of a car going down a steep grade, that looked depressing like life is all down hill, then i saw the squiggly one I used, thinking that fitted my poem better... onwards and upwards.

I'm basically a positive person so your sign just really resonated with me. :)

Dear Anonymous Poet,
Thank you for sharing this well-paced twenty syllable poem to reflect on the virtues of lithium. Who knew a salt pill could help so many?
I wish you luck in the contest and thank you for the good wishes you shared in your Author's notes,

Thank you for reviewing my poem and for your good wishes. Several of my friends are on medication for depression; every day I send up a heart felt prayer that my own life has not been dogged by such issues. I have certainly had my share of upsets and personal dramas, but never on a daily basis of having to cope with mental health. And is Lithium actually salt? Never knew that.
-
Yes. Lithium is basically salt. It was the drug of choice for years, but most people suffering from bipolar are on other mood stabilizers that work in different ways. (like me.)
-
I am glad it is working for you. Whatever you are on has certainly not dampened your creativity. xx

Sending you a big caring hug across the distance, Diana. You have a lot to offer. Here in NZ we have a Maori saying: "Kia Kaha", it is an affirmation which means stay strong. Find something beautiful to look at and be gentle with yourself.
Thank you so much for reviewing my poem. I am glad it gave you a boost. xx
