Congratulations on your 5-7-5 winning the contest. I relished the poem and the lovely tree-of-life carpet illustration to reinforce your message and the "tapestry" metaphor. Big cheers- Joan

It could have been an ekphrastic poem, but obviously, mostly it's not, beautifully written 5/7/5 poem, the "weaves" its magic in just a few words, a worthy winner, well done Val, blessings, Roy

This 5-7-5 is a deserving winner of the contest. I truly like the analogy you chose to compare life's memories to--a tapestry where sad tears and laughter are woven together.

It's simply exquisite this 5/7/5 - conveys the essence of life's journey within the confines of the format - a worthy winner - and with such a lovely visual to accompany

What a pleasant SURPRISE, and yes 5/7/5s are not really respected by many on this site. I am actually Japanese Short Form writer but some times I just can't resist a contest like this. Thank you so much for your "exceptional" support. Hugs Val

Hi Val,
It's a lovely poem! The theme is relatable and appealing. Life is all about the tears and and laughter, as you mention. Executive word economy! I like how you used the third line for personal interpretation, which makes this a bit haiku-esque. This should do well in the contest. Good luck!

You're welcome! Seems you don't post much these days. I was away for almost a year and came back last month. Hope you're doing well.

I pop in and out of this site now. I haven't liked to new approach on Japanese Short Form writings, so I mainly enter cash contests. It is so nice to hear from you. Best wishes Val
