A wonderful story, one that never grows old. How Jesus has given mankind the chance for true life, life, not just everlasting, but life today. He heals our broken souls and breathes His life into us.
A wonderful word of faith for me to go to bed on tonight. I'll go to sleep with an uplifted soul,
Well done,
Rhonda

"I'll go to sleep with an uplifted soul," This comment means more to me than all the stars and praise (mostly) I have received for this piece. Thank you so much and God bless you, Dennis.

It really gave me a warm fuzzy feeling before heading to bed last night!

A good reminder to look at the entire story and not just the points that are most memorable. The use of the Disney version of Pinocchio is a great metaphor and a great introduction to hook your reader. The catchy title is effective as well.

I like how you started out talking about Pinocchio and then tie it in to the Biblical discussion. It's been a long time since I've heard or read anything about Pinocchio, but I, too, had remembered only about his nose and forgot that he was trying to become human. I especially enjoyed 'This was his goal and it was dependent on him becoming a good, moral person...um...puppet.' and 'Now He can give this eternal, spiritual life, not at the END of earthly life, but at some point, DURING the life experience...if in fact, it is received at all.' Thank you for sharing these spiritual truths. :)

There are no act of goodness we can do to obtain that eternal life, it is a gift. We do not work for gift, we just have to accept the gift and make it ours. I enjoyed this profound work. Patricia

Excellent. This is a clever way of explaining to readers the concept of Christianity. The wooden puppet turning into a real life boy was something I had forgot about long ago. You send a great message to all who care to listen.

I have been expressing to people who Jesus hung out with, and of course it was the dregs of society, the rejected, the prostitutes, the tax collectors, drunks, who, through rejection, knew they were sinners, imagine the holiest hanging with unholinest, believe me, when I was drunk, gambling and all sort of of unacceptable behaviour, Christ died for me, how good is that? It's the sick that need a physician not the healthy. "All have sinned, and fall short of the glory of God." Some Christians actually believe God will save "good people" I wasn't (aren't good) and yet He came in my lowest moment, praise Him, I am captive to only Him! Well done brother Dennis, YBIC. Blessings,, Roy

Hi Roy, good thoughts. Everyone is sick but many don't know it. Christ came for the down and outer as well as the up and outer, every level of society. You probably know the old joke, "I didn't know he was a drunk until I saw him sober one day." Many don't know they are sinful until they see Jesus in all His wonder. God bless, Dennis

Hi Dennis, this is an important point about salvation being a gift, but one we need to receive. I forgot the part about Pinocchio becoming a real boy, but I haven't seen the movie in many years and was little when I saw it.

I will not dispute your beliefs, Deniz22. But I don't share them, either.
Pinocchio is neither a role model, nor an applicable example for Christian behavior. The tenets of Christ are well documented. To muddy the waters with a folkloric fabrication serves no useful purpose.
I know you mean well. But the Pinocchio ruse seems to dilute your message.
One man's opinion.
Peace, Lee

So Lee, give me my money back! :) I'm surprised such a good writer as yourself would be such a poor reader. You missed the entire point. "Ruse"? Really? "Role model"? Are you familiar with this basic tenet of Christianity? "You must be born-again". Many don't know that introductory truth and so I write. Dennis

I'm sorry we disagree. Lee

Dennis, just wanted to say how uplifting it is to read what comes from the heart of a believer and how you are able to show your faith. You are an inspiration and it is a delight to read your work and the way you are able to see the deeper, more significant, side of the moral of certain fables. God bless - Loren

I really like your take on the Pinocchio. You are absolutely right about the fact most people focus on the nose theory instead of focusing on the life. It certainly was a gift from God. I enjoyed your story, very insightful.
