You start off with your superlatives right off in the subtitle and then further the satirical approach by misspelling YUR. I'm pretty sure it's spelled YER. HAHAAAAAAAA.
Love the mention of Jay Squires and removal of that thats. Those thats do tend to multiply if you don't nip them in the that. Yep, Jay is a super fair reviewer and exceptional writer.
Some people are speechless and find it awkward to find the words to express their admiration to me. Two finds in that sentence so my suggestion is:
Some people are speechless and hard pressed to find enough words to express their admiration to me.
Mark another exceptional reviewer and writer. And MichaelK too! You have must have popularity oozing from the ying yang, Mav.
You most definitely turning Hegel on his head in this essay. You can't be accused of sour grapes, because you won. Maybe we need to start a new platitude with the sweet grapes complaint.
I think popularity is a fine thing to have. There's a lot of work involved and you can sell a lot of records too. Remember all the derogatory comments about musical crudeness The Beatles got back in the day. I'm pretty sure their song writing merits and musical abilities pass the sniff test today. The proof of the pudding is in the bank of course.
I couldn't agree more about the comments in the voting booth. In my opinion voter comments should have the author's signature on them. Perhaps that would stop the insulting comments that some folks can't seem to resist making.
Overall an excellent post and let's keep building those friendships and help each grow as authors with kind, considered and thoughtful comments. There is more involved in being a top ranked author than writing Pulitzer Prize material. And envy is a terribly destructive emotion to lug around every hour of the day.

Shows how much attention I pay to the monthly contests. I had no idea you won. But, I'm happy to say you write wonderfully, even the tongue and cheek pieces like this, and you are as deserving with many of your posts as anyone on this site. I enjoyed this immensely. I have been nominated a couple of times and even one once or twice. Of course, that was a while back so my popularity has evaporated a bit. Congrats on winning and you have every right to be proud. Yes, it is too often a popularity contest, but what is wrong with being popular????? I think you did a great job with this one.
