This is a delightful poem that sings like the bird that is its muse. Reading your poetry is always a treat for me as are the explanations of the poetry. I learn more about style and form from you than I did in my college classes in poetry. Thanks for sharing your expertise. I remain a loyal fan.

The form is so right for the rhythms of bird song. Unfortunately my high tone hearing loss has meant that I hear less of it theses days. I got a certain vicarious pleasure from this , hearing the actual song in my mind.

By the way, Yeltel has sponsored an Awdl Gynt contest if you are interested with almost a month to run till closing date.

Thank you Pantygynt. Yes, I plan to enter and have laid out an outline. Just need the right muse, but I do plan to enter.

That's great. Some people are having trouble with the cross rhymes. I doubt if you will, but if you'd like me me to check a draft prior to review I would be happy to do so.

I love this story within a poem, and as a bird enthusiast, I find them fascinating to observe in nature. We have a mocking bird that continually barks at our dogs then swoops down to spook them!

My favorite stanza:

Sing to me, song sparrow!
Please, sing a song to me.
That twig is long and narrow
on barren bough of tree.

Thank you very much Mary. Your poor dogs, terrorized by a bird. Must have a nest nearby.

The best music comes from nature, I listen to the birds outside, the doves calling their mates from far and the other little birds in the tree just outside my window, communicate chirpy with each other. Better noises that what the TV set has.

Well, Tom, there's no need for me to point out to you the technical aspects of this delightful little poem as you've already done that for us.
Suffice it to say that I enjoyed the piece immensely, and I'm sure the concert by said songbird was quite wonderful.
great work, as usual!
