I don't know which I loved more, your delightful poem or this amazing video. Unbelievable. For some reason, elephants always make me cry with emotion, such large but gentle beings. My mother loves them and giraffes too. She is 85 now and still loves to get a stuffed animal or a statue, or a piece of jewelry with these 2 creatures. I hope I remember to show her these 2 beautiful tributes.

I have an aunt who collected them and have been fascinated with them since I was about 3 years old... I can't tell you how many elephants I own in various forms lol They are fun and always make me smile :) I hope your mom enjoys, too! Thanks for the lovely review!

What a clever little elephant! If you manage to all that you want we will all clap as well but I'll bet you you cant paint your self portrait holding the paintbrush in your nose.

Thing about free verse is that being free it really defies stylistic emulation. Still you had a good stab at it and produced a nice bit of free verse here.

Wow, the video is amazing ... if it is in fact true. ?? It seems hard to believe that an elephant could paint. I like the premise of your write, Kim. To let oneself just go with unabashed abandon and enjoy the moment (whatever it is), is a wonderful thought. Too bad as we age we lose that as we become far too self conscious. "To recapture the lost moments of my youth" ... my fave line! :)

Well written and presented, I enjoyed reading your poem and watching the video. Thanks for the author notes as well about Mary Oliver and her poem 'The Storm'.

Very nicely done.
Descriptions were thought provoking and very interesting.
Easy flow and very nice to understand.
Maybe we will get rich if we could paint like that

    Hi Barb,

I'll probably stay with stick figures, my drawing skills aren't as good as the elephant's lol Thanks for a lovely review. :)

I enjoyed your elephant theme of today :) I love watching elephants paint. It's amazing. This video didn't work when I pressed the arrow a few times. However, I did see videos of elephants painting before.

You captured the fun of an elephant in water and I could picture it all. Well done!

Elephants are the best. I truly enjoyed your poem. They really are funny, wise creatures. This also brought back memories for me of the running in the sprinkler games we used to play. It made such a fun afternoon.

The video was interesting, but I'm a skeptic. Your poem is very well written with a smooth flow of words, making for a very good read. There is very good imagery.

Have not seen elephants for many years
Loved seeing them as a child
To watch them in the water
as well is a treat in every way
They have a great time in the water.

    Hi Annie,

Thanks for the lovely review. I got to ride on one with my cousins at the zoo when I was 9. What fun! :)

Elephants are amazing animals one of my favorite too. Although very big they are very soft hearted as long as you treat them well. Just keep in mind an elephant never forgets you when you hurt them.

    Hi Sandra!

I imagine they don't. I got to ride one once when I was 9 at the Omzi Zoo in Portland, Oregon. That's something I'll never forget. :)

Thanks for the taking the time to read my poem and share your thoughts.
