This is a lovely and fitting ending (or is it near ending?) to the NaProWriMo collection. It convey a gentle, joyous tone.

Some people would probably complain about the switch of meter in the second stanza (which I've tried to show by listing the stressed syllable below):

2
2
2
2

1
2
1
2

2

But...

it's your poem, and it doesn't say it's meant to follow any particular scheme. Therefore, it doesn't bother me lol

I think it's great, thanks for sharing.

Craig

    Hi Craig,

No one has mentioned a switch in meter until now lol thanks for pointing that out. I appreciate you taking the time to read and review, I know you've been swamped. :)

    I'm happy you liked it.

Well, people are picking me up on doing the same thing all the time (except I think I'm more conscious of it now). I was being honest when I said I don't see a problem in it, but some 'purists' probably mark us down on it, if that's of any importance lol

You are more graceful than I... It's my poem, I'll choose the words lol

I'm teasing :) you are right about the purists though... however, whenever most try to 'fix' the lines... they bastardize the meaning lol That's my point about word choices :)

I'm happy you like it. Gloria raved over it and Cat bookmarked til she can give it a six... maybe they aren't purists lol

Oh hell no, those two aren't purists... they're rebels. They think rules were made to be broken ;-)

Guess I'm not a purist either lol ;)

A great poem for your book. It is close to the end now. It was great fun and a great learning experience with myself learning new forms and reading other's beautiful works.

The joy the writer gets from poetry is evident in these three simple verses, which is especially evident in dancing with her muse. The poet enjoys writing so much she is disappointed when the work is done.

Kim,

What a great picture to accompany your super poem. The lines flow smoothly with a great story, too. I really like the use of rhyme.

GBrooks poem was fun to read as was yours.

Good job and thanks for sharing. Jan

In my opinion, extremely lyrical in its rhyme and rhythm - well constructed with just a couple of uneven spots - easily corrected by reading the poem aloud several times, - this poet will catch the phrasing herself...

Interesting to read about Gwendolyn Brooks and o have her poem there as a comparison with your own. The style is mimicked to perfection and yours also retains something of the sense of the joy of revisiting earlier times in our later years. Reminds me a bit of Jenny Josephs':
"When I am an old woman I shall wear purple
With a red hat that doesn't go, and doesn't suit me,
And I shall spend my pension
on brandy and summer gloves
And satin sandals, ...etc"

    Hi Tony!

I really enjoy the Jenny Joseph poem... that is iconic... Thanks for the reminder of hers :) I enjoyed reading Gwendolyn Brooks today and thought I'd share. She has another one, vastly different style... one I might try to play with a bit more, I liked it that much. (I always love something a bit different lol)

Thanks for taking the time to read and comment! :)

Oh, I put a post in the Poetry forum under NaPoWriMo 2016, if you get the chance, I'd love you to have a look. :)

    Thanks!

I must admit, I'm a little saddened that the NaPo month is over too and I wasn't even in it. It's been a thoroughly delightful trip though reading everyone's poetry and getting a feeling for where they're headed.

Gwendolyn Brooks sounds like a poet after my own heart too, so I'm glad you wrote your rendition.

Excellent poem.

Gloria

    Hi Gloria!

Thanks for taking the time to read and comment... I'm going to miss NaPo!! (Though, I might actually get something done around the house?! lol) Gwendolyn Brooks was a fun read today. I listed her works with my second selection.

    Have a great evening!
