Man...Dee Dee is on a mission. Does she have any children of her own?
Appetites change drastically in the elderly. If that is true, I am no where near old yet!

Confused by this "Peggy sister said she was okay..."

Thanks for catching my goof. Dee had two children. Her favorite one, a son, had a fatal heart attack in his fifties. Her daughter, the younger of the two, couldn't stand her mother and disowned her. Hard to believe. Ha,ha.

This is not a short chapter as much as it is Informative with the way the nursing home staff has to contend with the unruly. It is job I would not want as no matter what with some they can never be satisfied. My stomach wavered when you mentioned that your Aunt was there upon your arrival at the hospital. Ouch! I'm sure there's more pain to come.
However, my interest has not wavered with regards to this excellent memoir.

It's a job that requires a lot of patience. Ten times worse than teaching! Clever review with your transitional use of waver. :-)

Oh, that aunt of yours is determined to ruin everything for her own sister. Why? What's her problem, anyway? What is she after? Makes little sense to me, but I'm sure she feels justified for some pathetic reason. I really hope someone puts her in her place soon!

My aunt definitely had issues. She refused to discuss her past with Mom. So nobody knows. She was a neat freak, I know that, and jealous of my mother (according to Mom). I connect with that since my sister was jealous of me (according to Mom, too.LOL)

I think I am developing an ulcer over your Aunt's behavior. Damn, I do hope you can keep her away from your mother. Your mother isn't helping much either, but at least she has you.

The strange thing is I always liked my aunt until all this shit happened.

Dee certainly was a problem. That reminds me of when my mother was in a nursing home for rehab after she had fractured her hip, my aunt hovered around, and the staff complained about her. It's common for the folks to complain about their food, just like they did in the school cafeteria, but my experience was that the nursing home food was pretty good. I believe most nursing homes have the patient's name written somewhere on their clothing, to avoid mix-ups. Excellent details about what was going on with your mother. judi

We did write Mom's name on tags inside her clothes. Same with Frank's mother, but she claimed the loss of undies! Thanks for sharing your story.

You're welcome. It must be a hard job keeping track of all the clothing and making sure it gets back to the right person. judi

I'm am sensing a foreboding here. Something is telling me that the news will not be good; something is definitely wrong with your mother.
Your aunt is a piece of work. Is she still alive? Does she only see bad in other people? She seemed like a very unhappy person. The director is a candidate for sainthood for not loosing her cool with your aunt.
I am pretty sure I am not going to like what comes next.
I didn't any spag issues.

    You must be psychic, Diane.
Dee passed away about ten years ago.
The death of her beloved son made her really bitter.
I might do a short piece about her good side. Everyone has one.

Was he the one married to a witch? The one who suddenly died and he supposed to have set it up that she, your aunt, would be taken care of for the rest of her life? I remember you mentioning something to that effect, and it wasn't Bobby...
reply by the author on 01-Jul-2015
That's the one. His name was Bob too.

I can't remember the age difference between your mum and your aunt, but I suspect she was thinking along the lines of 'there but for the grace of God go I.' There is nothing more frightening than seeing your peers 'fall' whether it be physically or metaphorically, because you can't help thinking you're likely to suffer the same fate at some point in the future.

I look forward to reading on and finding out what happens after you get to the hospital, especially what your aunt says and does!

Brilliant! I never thought of that. I think they were three years apart in age, Mom being the oldest. Things get vicious at the hospital.

Lol! Yes, indeed. I can imagine your surprise when you saw your 'banned' aunt sitting there. I would have been surprised too. Well, patients can fall out of bed. There should be regular checks. Lucky no harm appears to have been done.

As it turned out, the fall was meant to be. The doctor took her poor eating habits seriously.

It sounds like your aunt is causing a lot of trouble for the staff, and for your mom. I enjoyed the way this was written out. The dialog really hit the nail on the head. I'm sorry to hear your mom fell out of bed, and no one came to her rescue. I hope they have good news from the hospital, but probably not if your aunt is there. Best wishes, my friend.

Always with respect,

Seems falls are a part of life the older and less balanced we get. But to fall out of bed? My husband did last night! No broken bones though.

Dee strikes out. A chapter in the book. When Blood Collides. Another Fall.' Yeah, it's all so clear. Sometimes we wish we could swop some reprobate family member, for another stranger reprobate. At least them you could thrown out with the dishwater and be rid of them for good. Well done.

It's hard to believe that according to metaphysical beliefs, we choose our parents and generally travel with the same soul group in every carnation--perhaps until we get it right?

It is a fact, I'm afraid.
