G'day mate. That is very well done. It is hard to tell a complete story in 60 words when my poems take between 480 and 600 words to do the same thing. Good luck in the contest, you have a big chance with this one. Cheers fez

Thanks, my friend! I tend to take a lot of words to tell a story, myself. This was quite the challenge.

A good story never loses its attraction and repeating it in newer ways does not appear boring. Moreover, your well chosen story on Joseph, son of David is biblical and would interest all believers. Best of luck for the contest.

I liked the way how you told the story of how Joseph was told by an Angel that Mary was the pregnant with the Son of God in this piece. You captured well how he must've felt at the time. Your writing flowed well and I couldn't find any faults. Good luck in the contest...Jacob

Thank you, Jacob! I like to take "other" views on subjects, and relate them to what everyone might can relate to. Thanks, again.

Hello there,

As you say, an old story told in a concise and new way. A bit sad to think of Jesus being born in a marriage not motivated by love, though.

Nicely and succinctly put.

I tried to put in how much Joseph loved Mary, and my original version had it in place. Unfortunately, it's hard to keep everything you want in 60 words! Quite challenging for one, like me, who is used to writing novels and plenty of room to write away!

Thank you, Rebekka. I was going for the surprise, which I love to do, but I was also trying to make a parallel between past and present. Thanks so much for taking your time to review the story.

Thanks so much for the six star review. It is so encouraging, and thanks for the the vote of confidence. I appreciate you taking the time to read it through. To be honest, I've never written anything that short before. I'm usually very wordy.

Some men won't even marry the one they got pregnant and won't be around for the baby either, other men though... well you told the story well. Great entry! Good luck to you:)

This is a beautiful story. So much here in only sixty words. The love of a mere simple man who turns out to raise the Son of God. Thanks for sharing. Best of luck in the contest. Excellent job.

Thanks you for the review and the kind words. I have never written anything that short before, not even a text, I don't think.

I quite enjoyed reading this sixty word count tale. It is a short story with a powerful message. I have known two men in my life time who have married girls that were pregnant by somebody else. Both of those marriages turned out to be very happy ones. But this is about a particularly special pregnancy.

Thanks for the great review. It was nice and encouraging. I like the way you have compared modern day choices to the story of Christ, but that really was my purpose with the extremely short story.

This is indeed a unique take on the old, old story. Thanks for re-telling it in this way. You never hear the story from Joseph's side, do you? I like the use of his strong hands as a metaphor for his strong faith.

Thanks for your review. It's nice when people take the time to read and review each other's work. I enjoyed writing it, but the original version, just me writing to see how many words, was about 1500. It took awhile to whittle it down and still keep the meaning, but, again, it was fun and thanks.
