Hi Shirley,

It's interesting, at a very young age how self-preservation kicks in. Little white lies seem important if it keeps us out of trouble, which of course begets another little white lie, and then the line blurs. Even if we do get into trouble, we think it could have been much worse if we fessed up.

Very well told, my friend.

Cheers,
Keep Smilin'... Jax

A powerful work with good solid rhyme within well expressed lines. This one hits home run for me - sadly it does hurt like hell....I thought you did a great job on this one.
Thanks for sharing it.

Thanks Maureen for sharing this one with me.
Time does heal most hurts but those inflicted by the ones you
love do dig deep and linger deep in your memory always.
I truly appreciate your time and review.

Lots captured in a few lines. Two were punished for the cookie theft, but one added another layer with a lie. Some things continue to grow, you know.

"Never trust a liar." This rings so true. How can you trust someone who lies? By the very definition of lie you may find a misquote hidden in the truth. Well done.

Jealousy and craving for parental attention is very common amongst siblings, and your poem, and your artwork express that extremely well.

As you say, just one event, like here, can cause mistrust for life, but I suspect most kids get over it, as they're mostly as 'bad' as each other. :-)

Cheers, Ted

Twas this vey action -> very

Betrayal is a trait in humans and can occur to anyone irrespective of the relationship status. This betrayal had been well documented in the history of mankind including the Bible.
But the wrongs committed as children cannot be taken too strongly as they could not really understand how to live a righteous life and the benefits they will derived.
If for one small incident in a misbehavior as children is taken to heart, then the family bond will hurt everyone.
Good write and well penned a betrayal of trust.
Cheerio, hugs, Ritchie. :))
