I really enjoyed reading this Rondeau. I'm not that familiar with the form so wouldn't comment on it's exactness, but the subject matter really is nostalgic. Before we were married my husband had a few cars similar to your descriptions. Standard shift of course--sometimes on the floor and sometimes on the wheel. But the bench was perfect for snuggling close with no seat belts to worry about. I also loved and still miss the draft windows where you could get air without being blown to smithereens. Sorry those days are so "long gone by."

Hi, Treischel,
"In Days Gone By" is a poem of highest quality in the rondeau form. It has excellent meter, figurative language and imagery (engine's roar indiscreet). Its rhyme is high quality and the rhyme scheme is consistently followed as required by the form. The repetition is effective.

Those cars were beauts... but now so out dated that I doubt they'd pass emissions testing. If only mechanics could refurbish the engines or something to salvage the body. Nice nostalgic look at classic cars. Good poem.

A lot of horsepower at your feet,
In search of dragsters to defeat.
At stops the car is looking svelte
As smoking tires squeal damage de(a)lt
And any driver could compete,
In days gone by.
Nice rondeau Tom. It really tells the tale of your car. Nice to hear if told.

Is it dealt? For delt..I miss the beauty of those big cars and their safety. I feel that modern cars are made from foil. I get my fix by watching Counts Cars on the History Channel
I like your rondeau
God bless
