It's incredible how children sail through crises without much to-do, and we as adults get all flustered and think the worse. To them, I guess it's just another bump in the road or on the head. LOL

Thank you Carol. Children are amazingly resilient. This child kept my heart in throat until he left home. I'm not sure I could have survived one than one boy.

You have written a great story. I was right into it with you, hoping things would work out for you. I wonder what will happen next to your little family?
I loved how you ended your story. I was expecting that you would be out in the grass at night looking at stars! Not seeing them!
Well done and well written.

Wish I had a six. This is a great post. By the way, the costs for building seem so outrageously low compared to now, lol. The last line makes the post worth reading in and of itself. So well done.

Thanks for a great review. I'm glad you liked it. Yes, building costs were lower then and so were salaries. Our money was worth a lot more than it is now.

I am sorry Beth for not having a six for this. I laughed at what Don said. So innocent. My boys were the same. Glad you guys got settled. A lesson well learned.

Thank you, Chuck, I appreciate the review. Don was forever doing something that caused lumps on his head. It's a wonder he survived.

Lol. Yes, my second son, too.

What a hassle you had, Beth. I wonder where that realtor found those renters. I suspect they wouldn't have been reliable anyway. I can feel your panic when Don took the header off the stairs. Glad he had no long term injuries and could see the bright side of it. Lol

Thank you, Judy. They really pushed us and we pushed our builder to get in before he was finished.

I very much enjoyed that chapter. I've been in a similar situation when moving house. A buyer pulled out on us and left us in limbo, not receiving cash that we really needed for the move. It's a real pain. Anyway, you might have convinced me to back pedal and have a look at your earlier chapters. Thanks again for a very pleasant read.

Thank you for the review and comments. I'm glad you like my story. This one is a repost from ten years ago but it is in my portfolio under Chasing the Elusive Dream. It starts when I got married. I'm also posting another with of my family that started with meeting my husband. I'm on chapter 144 with it and my kids are grown. That one is called "Remembering Yesterday.

What a cute son you have. I like what he said after getting hit on the head:
"You know what, Mom? When you hit your head just right, you really do see stars."
The mortgage was so cheap back then: $90 per month.
Well done.

I remembered reading the other chapters and wondered where they went. Why did it go inactive? Very nice job, Stay safe and stay healthy in the new year.

Thank you Earl, I'm reposting this book from ten year ago when my kids were still small. The other one is what I'm writing now the kids are grown. It may be confusing. I got burned out ten years ago and rejoined in 2019 I haven't been too inactive recently. You go a while between chapters too. LOL

Hi, Beth. Your storytelling talent is what is so great about your writing, Beth The honesty of it in the voice, like this:
"t was exciting picking out tile, carpet and appliances for our new house. Almost every evening after work, We drove to the building site to watch the progress. Sure enough, our builder had underestimated the cost of the job and was trying to compensate by cutting corners. Evan studied our contract and made sure he stuck to it even though there were times he had to redo some things. Since he was starting to lose money, the contractor was less cordial each time we saw him."
And I loved this closing:
"You know what, Mom? When you hit your head just right, you really do see stars." LOL. That's so cute.

Thank you Bob. I really appreciate you continuing to read my story. It not that exciting, but I'm writing it because it is my life and I think my children will enjoy having these memories. I'm glad you and other people feel it is worth reading.
