Your boss never had a point, less pay for women was always unfair, I had a working wife, back when. I love the "adventures" of your children, never a dull moment for you. Yes, boys genuinely seemed retarded, I still think in many areas of my life, I am. And messy, I sympathise, my poor granddaughter thinks boys belong on another planet, except for her male cousins of course. Well done Beth, blessings Roy
Typo : Jack and Jill costumes (are) ready.

Thank you Roy. There is a world of difference between raising girls and boys. Of course all kids are different and I only had one male.
The girls get harder to deal with as they get older.

I think my daughter?s finding that out with a girl and a boy.

I now understand the trials moms went through when they worked outside the home. I stayed home until my oldest was thirteen. I commend you. Thanks for sharing.

Very interesting. This is well written and presented. At least the last call was areal emergency. I laughed when the boy thought he got a reward for being retarded. But, it was good you just didn't hang up on him and got to the bottom of things right then and there.
Well done.

I can see that school daze is the absolute perfect title for this writing. It is so hard for mother's who work with children of any age. I think we all think of mom's with tiny ones at home, but it's hard when they are growing up at any age. Lots of challenges to meet. I think your story is adoreable. Your son sounds like a charmer. I wish you the best and lots of atta girls for making it through the tough spots.

I remember those days well. When my oldest daughter had to have her tonsils out, she got a bit confused and told people she was having a tonsil vasectomy. Of course, now that I'm a grandmother, I'm still running to the rescue when the daycare calls.

Thank you so much for the review Cindy. That is so funny about a tonsil vasectomy. I have a friend that told people when her grandpa died he wanted to castrated instead of creamated. She was old enough to know better.

It could have been a full-time job just taking care of all the kids' crises. Maybe your being at work helped them gradually become more independent, so they didn't have to keep calling you about so many things. Loved the retarded misunderstanding. Children do have trouble understanding things. The story about the girlfriend with the blue roots on her neck was humorous, too. Having to come up with Jack and Jill costumes the night before the play must have been a challenge. Well told and enjoyable. judi

Thank you so much for the review and the lovely comments. Over the long run, I don't think they were harmed by my not being a full time mom. We certainly needed the extra income.

You're so welcome. Your children sound delightful. Even when you were at work, they knew you were only a phone call away. judi

Nice job reminiscing about the innocent humor of small children and the busyness of a working mom's life. Well told with dialogue to make it realistic. Well done!

This really a cute story, Beth. I truly enjoyed reading it. Sounds like there was never a dull moment back then. Bet it's fun looking back on it. Bet your family will enjoy read these stories, if they haven't all ready. Well done. I only noticed a typing error below:
requirs(requires) a costume.

Hi, Beth. Ah, yes. I remember those days with my son. He called his mother about everything no matter how many times he was told to cut it out. LOL. Your style of telling this part of your life is free and easy and keeps the reader glued to the page. Bravo, Beth! :) Bob

Thank you for the review and comments and for catching the spags.
Working and raising kids has drawbacks but I don't think anyone suffered permanent damage.
