I can't believe you were able to write a poem about a kid chewing gum and you made it so wonderful. You are a poet laureate, and it doesn't matter what mainstream thinks.

Brooke! What a delightful poem...and the look of amazement and wonder in Sawyer's eyes...priceless!
Nice turn of events in this tale of the tall green creature and his little buddy. Excellent choice of formatting with those musical quatrains.
Great alliteration with "blowing bubbles big". My favorite part was the image of the almost quivering lips...comical imagery!
Thanks for sharing!

I couldn't guess out who the "big green friend" was from your title and you gave nothing away until the very end. My favourite stanza was "He wasn't biting off a limb of someone who had bothered him, but blowing bubbles big and small -- not very frightful, not at all" There were more than enough enjambments to satisfy me Brooke and there is no doubting it, kids just love bubbles but I never really thought what they might imagine lives within them. Now I know. xx Carol

An adorable, cute little story that's being told in poetic form. A beautiful rhyme scheme that goes with the flow. A lovely poem that reminds me of my own childhood when my grandma was still around.

I adore the story you tell within the lines of your perfectly written poem. The photo is delightful and the poem is full of imagery too.
Both of these guys look like they're having fun!

I do love revisiting my childhood via your wonderful poems and this is one of the best yet. If I had a seven I would give it to you. Lovely, pleasant read.

You know, without the picture, it almost sounds like you're really good friends with The Hulk. Ha! I loved this poem, of course, and, as usual, you have a terrific picture of your greatest inspiration. :)

Nice childrens story Brooke in these rhyming quatrains and I particularly enjoyed the third verse with the chattering teeth and bug eyes and creature chewing gum. Very descriptive, and a good fun read.

Hi, Brooke. Great transition from scary character to a loveable character. Great rhyme and rhythm. I can see this in a children's book decked out in multi shades of green.
