That was written over nine years ago. You have a good memory. I was surprised at how many people are still around from so long ago. I wrote something about the same job more recently.

To saybyou working life was a constant challenge would be an understatement Beth. It's amazing how dear folk like your friend with the severely handicapped child function, love is truly an incredibly adaptable thing. But I can understand how you felt, you were also young. Beautifully written Beth. Blessings Roy

Thank you, Roy. It was challenge for me that I wasn't capable of handling. I wonder if the baby had been mind if I could have handled it. I think it would have been extremely hard for me. I don't think you really know of sure until you're faced with it. I appreciate you comments.

I think many women would my put the child in an institution. Not everyone is geared to handle that but it is blessing that some are.

And, Beth, it is wonderfully written. I can understand everything that happened to you in the work place. I can also understand Evan wanting you home, at least on some nights. Ulla:)))

Thank you Ulla. I would have been home at night if I could have handled the job in the art department. When I agreed to work on the switchboard, I thought it would be very temporary.

This is an interesting experience you had a while ago. With a degree in art, you did well at finding jobs. But you had a disturbing co-worker. I like the following expression:
I had a troop of monkeys dancing on my brain.

Well done.

Thank you so much for the review. I never seem to have trouble getting jobs but I face some strange situations and didn't always stay very long.

Like anything, sometime happening is beyond guess, anticipation, hope or expectation, anytime, anything can happen in life, your job changes but nature of job never, you apply your head but futile; challenges come, as in case of searching for employment, we don't know, how you are back to the drawing board, definitely after changes; well said, well done; keep writing. This is another interesting addition to the story. The author creates a very readable piece for the reader in this story. It is well laid out and formatted. This reads well and grabs the attention.

You have my sympathy regarding your interactions with John Q. Public, It's always that one percent that tests your patience .

I love reading your post as its a constant trip down memory lane. Question, where you ever on a party line?

You have a gift in being able to draw in the reader so they experience what you're describing.

Take care,

Ray

Hi Beth

Another interesting installment of your early life. What a kerfuffle with the jobs. I couldn't help but smile! At least it turned out okay!

One small correction, in an otherwise perfect post.

I said I would ,so I called State

Marion.

I know I said it before, but I am so glad you are telling your story. I know of many young'uns out there who need to hear it. It's very hard to find the right working environment.

Thank you Babbara, I appreciate the review and comments. I don't know how many young people witll here it but hopefully my own chilren and grandchildren will read it. Some seem to find the right slot more easily than others. It seemed especially hard for women in days gone by. I think it isn't easy today either. A lot of the job markets have dried up.

I can only imagine working with someone who
chats non stop - would have driven me mad -
I like peace and quiet. Mind the phones never
stopped ringing in our offices. It must have
been a very trying time.

a well written essay, Beth - most interesting.

a couple of minor things...

I know damn well[,] he hasn't left - lose comma

There was a ad - an ad
