This isn't morbid , it is brilliant. Even Shakespeare wrote about tragedy and death. And everyone recognizes his name. Great job and a poignant message. :-) Carolyn

Very humorous, Debbie. Death is too sick to answer--
that is what you meant, right? I may be looking at it
differently, I think. I see you you on Death's doorstep ringing his bell. You're see it the other way around, right?

Peace, Lee

I see how you like to write about death. Something we all face but hardly ever talked about. Good subject for a senyru. I like that. Nobody home. Don't know if your reviewing but I am writing a novel about a euthanasia home and death.

I like the point mentioned in the Author Notes that 'death is part of life'. On death's doorstep is a poem which needs careful consideration before one jumps into conclusion. One has to remember that the door has two sides - the inside and outside. On which side of this poem are you? The bell is ringing but on which side is the sound coming from? Are you thinking positively or negatively? I may be standing at the death's doorstep, but the question is; "Is the bell calling me to die or calling me to recover and live on"? I may be too sick to answer but one thing is certain; I will either die or live because that is life's circle. My answer will come in one way or the other. Thank you.

All I can say is I relate to being that ill. A good poem that's all showing how we do what our bodies allow. When on deaths doorstep there's not muck you can do except pray.

A very clever and creative 4-2-6 Senryu. A valid , though unusual format. It shows death in a humorous light. The subtle humor in "but too sick to answer' is an amazing statement that was unexpected.

A three line senryu with only twelve syllables, the poem was composed with simple words, but deep meanings. Nice presentation with a good theme. I am a fan of senryu and I enjoy reading it.
