This story is really a thriller but with a light touch and I like it that way, because I am too tired of the gory details of killing , the blood, the violent deaths, the twisted way characters are killed, the sick murderers, just make my stomachs twitch. I don't believe we inject horror by killing and death alone, for there are others way to shock the readers, like what you did. It started with crazy pranks of Joe common among kids, then the circus, the chase and the ending is subtle, you did not have to give a detailed picture of pangs sinking into carotids of the neck. Well done.

I like good old suspense and shy away from guts and gore. thank you for the great and insightful review. Gretchen

This piece is certainly original and the ending was quite unexpected. It kept me reading to the end. However, I think that there should be a few more descriptions to create a sense of place.

I had a 700 word limit. The details had to be limited. Thank you for the great review. Gretchen

A great read. Wittily wicked. Mark Twain meets Stephen King. Solid and engagingly-written characters draw you immediately into the tale. Perfectly paced. Evocative descriptions that gently enhance, but never slow the narrative. And a classic Bradbury like twist at the end. Really enjoyed it.

I love when people write short stories right! You can't linger in the details forever, you have to get to the point, and you have done so, so well! Carnivals, werewolves, this story has fun and compelling written all over it.
I loved the ending!

Well done. Same old story and yet, you made it your own and one who no longer cares much for tales of that sort end up reading it and liking it. The name of the game, this is, isn't it?

Thank you and I'm pleased you enjoyed it. Gretchen

I think that this should be for older teens and adults not for little children because children have over active imaginations as is they don't need any help with that. Keep up the good work. I can also see how this could be made into a book.

Haha. This is amusing in a disquieting sort of way.
'What should I do, Harry?'
'Run.'
You're damn, right, he should run! With a wolfman yearning for his blood, that's the only sane option.

Oh, well told. I was involved from the beginning, totally there on the road with Joe. I enjoyed the buildup of tension and the last line was perfect, and neat line that just grabs you. Giddy

What a great twisted ending. Not at all what I expected. I love the lead up with the two brothers--the wise ass Harry pushing Younger Joe around and teasing him about the wolf boy and Joe getting scared then annoyed with his brother's tricks. The conversation between the brothers feels authentic and sounds believable. There's really good tension, and I really enjoyed it. Scary!
