An excellent story, told with ease and fluency. The story of a child who is protected by the church after the death of his mother, and in his adulthood, he turns to her again seeking God's comfort. Is sad y transmit the mesaje from that God always is near us. A very good entry for the contest

Nice post. I myself had a spiritual crisis a few years ago. I found myself going into the local Basilica to meditate and pray. Thing is, I'm not even Catholic. The openness of the Basilica gave me sanctuary when I felt that I had to be alone with God. I've gone to mass regularly since then, even though I haven't completely converted, I found peace and solace in the words of Father Eduardo Ortega who was the Rector. He has been reassigned and I miss him dearly.

A very short discussion of feelings of having the Lord in mind. The writer finds strength and comfort in meditating in church even as young as a child WHICH FEELINGS BECAME MORE INTENSE AFTER THE DEATH OF HER MOM AT AN EARLY AGE. The writer says, "As a young child of seven after my mother's death, the open arms of the church was a place of solace during recess time. Many days I spent huddled in a corner of a church, finding precious peace just sitting in proximity to the Holy family in its lit alcove." Very enlightening.

I love reading this. I too am saddened
that our Churches must lock their doors
and I understand the feeling of peace that
comes over you when visiting Our Lord
at adoration of the host.

But I know how you feel my friend, because they locked the doors of my church so fast one Sunday after morning service, that I was locked in the bathroom and had to bang hard until I was heard by the key master. lol Great writing.
