kinfolks are arriving - I don't have time to research this now, but I would say kinfolk
Your quatrains have excellent flow when read aloud and strong rhymes, and the details create a most appropriate holiday festive mood - this is warmly nostalgic and touching :-) Brooke

Your poem is filled with the true meaning of Thanksgiving and how glorious it is to share time with our family and give thanks for all our blessings...I truly enjoyed it.

Thank you Carol, I'm so glad you enjoyed it. Now, I just have to get busy and pull it off. I will have about fourteen here for dinner that day. I didn't mention all the work that's involved for the cook.

This is delightful! I have been writing quatrains as well and I really appreciate your remaining true to meter and rhyme. And on top of it, the message comes through beautifully. Congratulations on a job VERY will done!

By far, Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday. I think you've captured the sensory images -- smells, sounds, and sights -- of the holiday. No real suggestions. Rhyme and rhythm work nicely.
Best,
Merle

Merle, Thank you so much for the review and the nice comments. It represents a lot of work for the cook (me) but it is all worth it.

Hey Beth; maybe it is just that the last poem I reviewed did not flow well, but this one flows like the River Afton: gently. A delightful read.

Perfect. A little reminiscent of the folksy rhyme of Edgar Guest. the meter is great, the words thoroughly describe Thanksgiving activity and its meaning. Very nice poem.

Very nice thanksgiving poem. I enjoy the descriptions of the food served on Thanksgiving. (We don't have that feast in my country so we dont have turkey day and I've never had turkey, only chicken. ) Very well written and enjoyable to read.

Thank you Anabella, I don't eat turkey myself but it is traditional. I realized after I posted this that only America celebrates this holiday so I have added something to my author's notes to explain it to someone who isn't familiar with it. Thanks for the review and the lovely comments.

Mark, I did know that. Our Thanksgiving is the last Thursday in November in honor of the first Thanksgiving the pilgrims celebrated that first winter after they came to this country. I thought you had Christmas on December 25 the same as ours. I forgot only America celebrates Thanksgiving and many of you are from other countries. I'll put something in my author notes. Thanks for the review and nice comments.
