Your doctor sounds much like my Oncologist who keeps pushing me in the direction of chemo though currently I resist.

What a little firecracking imp! On top of his action he probably had a good laugh about the incident.

Water leaks, as your carpet illustrated, are not good.

"Another a friend" should be Another, a friend.

"people in small room" should be people in a small room

Chaos, the definition of a good life.

Thank you Brett. This was a nice review. Thanks for noting the errors. I've gotten used to handling chaos and I got through this too but it was one of the worst. After a couple of months, things settled into a more managable level of chaos.

Life is hectic. You sure nailed that feeling with this great piece of work.

Couple of catches:

Another a friend from down the street came over to play with Connie. The girls decided
(Remove the first 'a' )

"You don't have to tell me. Do what you want to. I don't care.," he said.
(Remove the period after the word care)

Hilarious that the boy said please don't tell mom that the house is on fire. Kids are funny little creatures.

Nice work!

Thank you Douglas. I appreciate the review, catches and comments.
The news of the fire made my blood pressure shoot up but knowing something was up and not knowing what would have done the same thing.

Just when I think you can't top a chapter for chaos, you outdo yourself. This is a contender for the title of most disastrous happenings within a week's time. I dare not declare it the winner since I shudder to contemplate that there may be even worse to come.

This was one of the worst for sure. I did start to believe I wouldn't survive it all. The space shuttle blew up while all this was going on but I didn't think this story needed more downers.

My son was born the day before that dreadful event. I nursed him whilst watching the launch. When it exploded, I stupidly asked: That wasn't supposed to happen, was it?

This was an interesting tale of woe.
You spelled okay two different ways...
"O.K., I'm coming."
"OK, if you must know."
I prefer "okay." If you want to use OK, that is fine. I would not use O.K.

Thank you Thomas. You are right about the Okay. I've changed it. I glad you found my tale of woe interesting.

you hooked me with the first two sentences: some memories are almost too painful to relive. still they are also extremely hard to forget. An insightful opening to a great post. Well done.

What a year! You described it brilliantly, and very effectively, and kept me interested and engrossed throughout. Lol. One wouldn't want life to be boring of course! Very well written.

Thank you for a great review and comments. In three months everything was better than ever. We had great insurance and my health improved drastically. I even got a new job which I loved.

So glad you posted this. The traumatic event of losing so much to a fire definitely belongs in your book. A hard write, I'll bet, with you maybe shedding a few tears as you wrote it, but I did find a couple traces of your trademark humor, Beth.

Thank you for a great review. No, I have no regrets other than loosing some pictures and my old love letters. We had good insurance. The hospital proceedure gave me back my heath. The restored house looked like new. We had all new furniture and clothes and we were all better off than ever. I had much better job that I liked so alls well that ends well. I really appreciate the stars.

Ah, but boring is good! At least, that's what I have come to appreciate over the years. So glad you survived and got the blood infusion that you needed. And those were the days when there was fear about getting blood transfusions because of HIV. What a terrible Christmas season!!

Suggestion:
but we told we were lucky to (we were told)

Thank you Helen. I appreciate the review. I was very concerned about being given blood but it all worked out. Three months later our house looked brand new and we had all new clothes and furniture. I had my health back and life was better than ever. As bad as it seemed at the time, it was a blessing in disguise.

What a horrible string of events, Beth. You did a great job
describing the seriousness of each one. It was amazing the
house didn't burn to the ground. One thing for sure was that
your kids kept you and hubby hopping. I'm glad everything
returned to normal--as much as could be after all of the chaos
and no one was hurt.
Thanks for sharing, Jan

Thank you Jan. It took about three stressful months for things to return to normal. Actually with what felt like a new house and all new furniture and me free of physical problems it was a lot better than normal. So I can't complain. God has a way of working things out.
