You usually have such a nice flawless meter, but this one falls a bit flat for me. There is not rhythm to the read. Overall it is okay, but not your best piece. Good luck in the voting booth.

Yeah, I see what you mean. I usually write in strict iambics. Relaxed a bit on this one. Thanks very much for your review. Always appreciated, Sue

Someone else made the same point. I have re-worked it and if you have the time, I wouldn't mind your having a read again. I really thank you for your very honest review! I feel it's less "choppy" now. What do you think? Regards, Sue

I love the poems about animals and nature. It is nice to learn something new in a poem also. I enjoyed this one very much. Nicely done.

Reading you is an education. I had never read that the large kangaroo was nocturnal. Go figure. Must be wonderful to live in Australia. Such a different kind of landscape. You're always an interesting poet. Very enjoyable read.

hi again sue.

You're ubiquitous! I keep falling over your stuff. lol

Are you a big fan of Kangaroos? You won't see many of them in the states.

Once again a most enjoyable read

Cheers

Chris

Chris, Where's your sonnet?? ..tap..tap..tap Ha! How's that for saying thank you for your great review?! I lived in Australia for about 8 years. Love those unusual creatures!! Their eyes are beautiful with such long eyelashes. And that face! Ha! Glad you enjoyed this verse. Thanks again. Sue

Hi sixteez.
You have a great entry here. I've heard of boxing kangaroos, but never really knew what it meant. Your author notes are great!!! Best to you in the contest. Fondly, Rebecca

"Boxing Kangaroo" is as educational as it is fun to read. I didn't know this about Kangaroos. Poem has a smooth feel to it and has perfect rhythm and rhyming. Well done.

NightWriter, I do love kangaroos! So unusual. Considered a pest in Australia!!! Makes me crazy! Hey, they were there first - ha! Thanks so much for your great comments and review. Glad you enjoyed the notes, also. :-)) Sue

Kangaroos seem like such a peaceful animal too. It must be a strange sight to see them box. I mean their arms are so short, they'll never get in a left hook, LOL.

A helluva a jab, though! HA!! And look out for those two hind legs coming up simultaneously. Seems to go against the rules, though.....something about "below the belt"?? LOL!!!

Though your clear descriptions, I could visualize each different type of "Roo" in the outback. (My actual acquaintance with them comes mostly from Kangaroo Island--a magical place.) Thanks for bringing back the memories of a trip made about ten years ago. I also enjoyed your rhyme scheme and the very dimensional picture.

Great job describing this interesting animal, while making it rhyme. You picked the perfect illustration as well. Good luck in the contest.

I love the kangaroo. When I lived in Australia, we'd take the kids to the wildlife park and sit right next to them. Thanks so much for your very kind review. Always appreciated, Sue
