I enjoyed reading this piece, Debi, these movies don't ring a bell with me, but I'll have to look them up. A well written piece, I thought it was really entertaining and I enjoyed reading it.

Hi Jacob, and thanks so much for the awesome review and for the kind comments. I have no clue what made me do this one.
Maybe cause he goes to the lake everyday to see if the ice is safe enough yet. LOL, he is such a big kid that just can't wait. But then last year it was too warm so he is going thru withdrawal something fierce. Haha. Anyway, it was a fun one to do.
I appreciate you having a little laugh with me with this one. Thanks so much, my dear friend. Love, Debi

Oh yes, Santha. We laughed so hard as we never would have done that but Ric mentioned the Odd Couple and my memory sparked an interest. And doesn't it seem weird that now we can go on Amazon Prime or many others on our tv and watch whatever. The rental is less than the popcorn at the movies. But you can be sure I popped a big batch to last for two movies. LOL...
And you are so right.. I completely forgot that Mr Wilson was played by Walter Matthau. I can still hear Dennis (in his bib overalls call out, "Mr Wilson, Oh, Mr Wilson!" And I can see the first Mr Wilson played by Joseph Kearns from 59-62 when he died. Then Walter Matthau played him in the movie in 93, the same year he made Grumpy Old Men. He died in 2000 of a heart attack, at only 79. Young. LOL, the older I get, the younger that seems. Y'know? I am almost a decade from that age, but still feel weird being 70 this year. Sorry about all the Trivia, but I looked it all up after reading your review. It was interesting. Thanks for sharing what you shared with me. That was a fun search for me too. Thanks for the FUN!
So this was one of the most unique reviews ever, and I sure enjoyed visiting with such a dear friend. Lotsa love and hugs to you, Santha! Debi

Something I have learned in my 81 years of life is that what may at first seem a liability, if considered in the proper light, can become something totally enjoyable. A bad decision on my part earned me the permanent job of washing dishes. I attacked it with gusto and found that while washing dishes, I had the perfect opportunity to exercise my thinking and creativity. What did I do, I started making up rhymes, that later turned into songs and poems.

Thanks so much, Nomi. I am glad that you brought that up because I would like to know the address as I lost where I had written it down. The one for your songs. I appreciate it as I would like to see what you have done with them. I hope it is going well. Much love, Debi

Thanks so much. This time I did right away what I meant to come back and do and that was to copy it and put it in the folder I have for you and your special reviews and the poems I wrote you in the past, and the interview.

A poem story that took me back to my youth, I use to love to fish, fishing of any kind. Especially ice fishing, I didn't like the cold especially, maybe that's why I ended up in California.

a great tribute to two classic comedies. I loved both of them, my wife says I am becoming a grumpy old man but hey at age 69 I think I am entitled to be a bit grumpy at times you know the old saying Getting Old is not for wimps.. I liked these lines the best
A Grumpy Old Men Festival's in Wabasha each year
The town where both movies were made and it's not far from here
If you've not seen these classics, you have missed a lot of fun
These Grumpy movies and my guy, they still are number one

Jake, would you believe that Glen and I just got done watching part one and two of the odd couple. The second one was a lot funnier than the first. But then I looked at the years and the odd couple 2 was made five years after grumpy old men. Anyway thanks for the awesome review. Actually it was supposed to be more about fishing and not really about the movie, but I through that in because we live so close to where they were taped.
So thanks again, my dear friend. Love, Debi

You never told me if you took that stop sign picture for your last poem about the snow! So I gave you six stars on this one just in case, lol. I can't believe how easy you make it look, to tell a cohesive story in poetic form, with beautifully crafted rhymes. Amazing. And I loved extending my Minnesota Debi's family story. Thanks for this.

Hahaha, Laurie, you are adorable. First of all I hate to tell you this, but I did not take that picture. There have been many times I could have though. I had a picture of my brother sitting on top of the mailbox as the snow was another foot over it. I hope that helps. Hehe!
Thank you with all my heart for those lovely comments, Laurie. You are a sweetheart and I appreciate you so much, my dear friend. Love, Debi

Hello Debi,
I loved both of those movies, but honestly, I've never had any desire to go ice fishing. I tried it once or twice back in Ohio when I was young, but I could never stay warm. I never had a shack to fish out of though. I miss fishing down in Southeast when I had my boat. Fishing up here is a joke. There are so many people that it's combat fishing, and I won't do it. Thanks for sharing this. We had ice thick enough to skate on, but the weather has warmed up this week, so I'm not sure it's safe now.
Have a blessed day gal.

Hi Tom, I know you prefer to do the big salmon fishing and we have done that and also in the golf for red fish. But this is his preference because it is what he has done since he was a kid. And it is big in our family. We believe in hunting and local fishing to keep kids out of trouble.
So anyway, I have no clue what started me in on this but maybe because last year he got cheated out of fishing because it was so warm out. That art that I did for the poem, was what I did to hang on his fish house. It is really a laminated huge poster. Anyway, Glen's fish house only fits four people and is small like about 8 ft by 8 ft.
But our son, Jason, who lives next door has a fish house that is 20,000 lbs and with the pickup that pulls it, it is 43,000 lbs. so they have to wait for the ice to be closer to 20 inches. That one sleeps ten, full bath, kitchen little living room and even a fireplace. They sit on leather recliners that each has a big screen tv to watch their bait and see when the fish comes in. There is a little round carpeted piece they pull out of the floor to drill a hole in the ice. It is awesome. I will send you a picture of it. It also doubles as a camper in the summer and on one side says, Making Marquette Memories.
I will send you a picture by email.
So all the boys in our family are big hunters and fishermen.
We just now got done watching part one and two of the odd couple. We figured since we were talking about these guys we should watch them again. LOL.
Thanks for the fun review and always awesome review, my dear dear friend,.
Love, Debi

Of course you reference the movie 'Grumpy Old Men', but I could not find the second movie mentioned in your poem (I even asked my wife to see if maybe I was just overlooking it.)
Best wishes.

Wayne, that is because the poem was not actually about the movies. They were only mentioned because I was talking about their characters. When I do mention the movies I say both of them and referenced them as plural. I even said the classics, so I don't know what else that would mean besides two Grumpy old men movies. You even asked your wife?
-
smiley face here
Yup, I'm not afraid to ask my beautiful bride anything.
But what was the other movie besides Grumpy Old Men?
-
It was Grumpier Old Men,
And is that what you were saying that you didn't know there were two? If you haven't seen that one, you really are missing out. That is better than the first one.

Well, I guess, I'm telling my age, but I've always been a big fan of the Odd couple characters, but never more than when they added Ann Margaret to the mix in one of those movies. LOL. Thanks for sharing.

Well now you started something. You put those other movies in my head that I had not thought of in years. So today was -20 windchill temps here with actual temps below zero. So what did we do today? We sat down and watched Odd Couple, part one and two. Would you believe I don't think I have ever seen either of them, and I did not know they were thirty years apart. We had a good laugh.
Thanks for not only the great review but also for the great tip. You never steer me wrong. LOL.
Love, Debi
