This is a great poem for the Tree Hugger 5-7-5 writing prompt competition. I love trees and their amazing feats of growing in near impossible places~off of cliff sides, through cement cracks, and, like this old tree, twisting and writhing out of stony ground. Great job!

This is a remarkable picture. This is clearly a tree that wants to live and is doing so with tenacity. Your poem is a vivid description of the tree and its environment. Nicely written. Good Luck.

This has to be the best Tree hugger poem that I have reviewed. The photograph is STUNNING. It shows how powerful the will to survive can be. Nice composition.

Very well done! This is the perfect picture, with perfect words to compliment it. I love trees; they are probably the best of all nature's gifts. Whether clothed in leaves or bare, there is something magestic about them. Well done and good luck in the contest. :)) Sandra xx

This is an excellent entry for this particular writing prompt. I love old trees, and often wonder what they've seen throughout their long lives. Thank you for sharing and best of luck in the vote's.
God bless,
Steve

    Hi Steve,

I know, the trees are like silent witnesses to all. I simply love them from the thin saplings to this gnarled old fella who was going to live not matter what!

Your kind words meant so much. Thank you.

So true. Life is indeed tenacious. Well written with a visual that is so appropriate--I can almost feel the "stony" roots reach deep down to reach the wellspring as we are likely to do to survive. Thanks for sharing and best for the Tree-Hugger contest.

Those roots are astonishing.

It's amazing the unexpected places where a tree can grow.

Their roots can split stone and many giant ones have overgrown ancient temples in Asia and South America.

Others can grow in part without soil and attach themselves to a mountainside.

Even trucks with their bulges, twists, and smooth curves are beautiful.

I found the topic interesting

I like this poem and the choice of the picture. Trees are pretty amazing. How long they live and how the leaves change in autumn. Vert nice poem. Good luck in the contest.

Yes, the will to live is strong. The tree is a great example. In the Bible, mankind is depicted as trees. A beautiful, succinct poem for this prompt. Sending you my best today as always and my very best wishes for the contest.
