What a dreadful experience all round! Nearly drowning and then being as sick as a dog. I somehow thought that discussion with your mother about a new bathing suit was going to lead to something unpleasant. And the very mention of sulphur certainly makes me feel very ill. Another entertaining read. Thank you, Beth. Take care Debbie

Yes, I cannot take Sulphur drugs either. They placed me in the hospital when a soldier causing me to redo basic training over. You girs sound so typical. Nothing like a bunch of giggling girls. Good one Beth.

Thank you, Chuck. I really appreciate the six stars. There were some other kids that got sick from the sulfur. The ones who didn't live so far away to did go home. I really wasn't a giggler. Those girls always annoyed me. We didn't have a giggler in the group, but we did have Pat, who didn't know how to quit talking. She is still a friend and lives in Huber Springs, Arkansas. When she calls me, she talks non-stop for a couple of hours. I hardly get to say anything.

Oh, you poor thing, I'm so glad you survived the rigours of camp life. And we've been able to be blessed by your writing and your presence on fanstory Beth, it's a miracle you made it through the week, I agree with your dad, I would've hated one of my girls to be in that predicament, beautifully written, blessings Roy

Interesting story- I began to feel a little nauseous myself; the smell of sulfur makes me ill! lol. Well written and keeps the reader's interest from beginning to send. I did see a couple of typos: .....my dad agree.... --should be agreed. ....surrounded by five boys which we hadn't...... should be with whom we hadn't... instead of which. Good story. ann

I imagine this was a traumatic experience in your young life. However, it reads a little stiff. I think you could dramatize it more. You were sick, dehydrated, alone, and you could have died. Its a good story and with a little more work it could be even better. It's like it's written by a reporter rather than a young traumatized girl. I'm no fancy reviewer but this story has real potential. gayla

That's a horrible way to spend any time, but summer vacation with friends and in bed alone...that's awful. I think I would have preferred to go home. I'm glad someone rescued you in the water, though. Boys that age could be so stupid.

Oh that's a horrible experience to remember! Unfortunately, summer camps can be dangerous places, even with the adult supervision. Those boys were lucky they didn't end the summer with your deaths on their hands. Good story.

Thank you, Marilyn. I know I would have really liked going to summer camp every year if it hadn't been for that sulfur water. I never got a chance to do it again.
