My heart goes out to you and all those who loved dear Jello! Even nine lives won't help when faced with a speeding hunk of metal and a careless driver. Your Shadow Ninja was a warrior and now she'll stand at the gates of time and wait for her family.
Hugs, Carol

Thanks, Carol. My 10 and 11 year olds took it hard.

What a delightful write in a most distressing situation. I'm very sorry about
Shadow Ninja. Sounded like he was one brave warrior after surviving a battle with a Chicken Hawk.
I'm sure Jello would be as proud of you as your are of him.

I am so sorry for your loss Douglas and when cats use up all of their nine lives it is very sad as pets are part of the family and we miss their presence. You sad words resonate with me as we lost our cat to old age, but it was still a tragic loss. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family at this difficult time, love Dolly x x x

I am so sorry - you must be heartbroken. Did the driver stop and try to help her? Or notify you? Or just leave poor Jello on the driveway? How very sad for her, after all she had already been through. The one thing for sure is that she knew you all loved her dearly. The death of a loved pet is heart-wrenching. I'm in tears with you too.

The driver never stopped. A neighbor saw and Crawford her while she died. Been especially tough on the two kids.

It is the hardest experience of all, losing a pet, especially in such a way. Callous driver.

What a beautiful cat, they are elegant, graceful animals, perfectly designed both as a creation of God, and make marvellous pets, we've owned 12 cats, who mostly lived long lives, and we remember every one, so sorry Douglas, beautifully written, blessings Roy

Were you able to find out who did it? I am sorry for your loss.
Pets are our family too. Pets also teach kids responsibility. It's a very nice picture and a well written ode to a friend. Karen

It's been hard on the two kids still in my home.......

Having pets teaches them about life and loss, caring for the sick, clean up, anf responsibility of caring for another. They will learn and grow from the experiences. I recommend waiting a few months before getting another pet. Let them fully mourn. my opinion only. Karen

I had a friend whose family dot another pet right away. They compared himto thier old one and did not bond. Thankfully his brother took the dog and he and the dog are very happy. Think of a rescue dog. Perhaps going with the kids to training sessions which will help them bond.Just a thought. Karen

I'm so sorry to hear about your family's loss of Jello. They become like children to us. Writing is a great way to express your grief and pay tribute to him. I wish you all the best.

I'm taking my little girl cat in to be put down today. I've had her almost 16 years. Looks like end stage renal failure. Really sucks...

Douglas, I am so sorry for the loss of your beloved cat, Jello. Like you, I always find comfort in writing, particularly poems because you can express your feelings at a much deeper level.
