As ever, Gretchen, your dialogue is all very credible and helps to add more detail to the characters enabling the reader to become fully invested in them. I keep having the feeling that Waylon won't be coming home. I hope I'm wrong. So good old Dougie doesn't really show the signs of changing, still thinking he's a teenager with no responsibility, if Waylon goes off with him it will only show how bad a father, something about leopards just permeated in my mind, well done Gretchen, blessings Roy

You have such a great skill when it comes to creating an atmospheric between these characters Gretchen, your work is such a joy to read.
