While it is admirable that the teacher was noticing and caring for her students, it is easy for them to sometimes miunderstand situations, or draw incorrect conclusions as in this caseThis is especially so as children often can't express what they mean to say, or even don't really understand what they have heard their parents saying. Well written.

Thanks WEndy...We had one DCFS officer who wouldn't listen because she believed she knew the whole story... unfortunately for her, she ended up with egg on her face, caught in a lie, in front of the grand jury. No body is perfect, but they need to stop and thnk.

It's so nice to read this story and even though through the innocence of a child he merely repeated what he heard someone say, it's interesting isn't it how things can be misconstrued, some bodies take it upon themselves to play God sometimes, but it must be observed, beautifully written Carol, blessings Roy

Yes, sometimes people think they know the truth but they don't. We had a DCFS officer who thought she did and ended up getting caught in a lie in front of the grand jury. Didn't do much for her career.

I enjoyed this story about a little boy who didn't fully understand the things he was seeing at home. I also liked that the teacher was observant and realized something was going on with Tommy. Fortunately, things were not as bad as they seemed at the beginning of the story.

Life is interesting like that. What we preceive is not always the truth. We need to stop and take a second look before we march off to war... and that goes for a lot of things.

I guess it's not too difficult to draw the wrong conclusions sometimes. It's good the teacher is looking out for her students, though. You have a few question marks where you need periods: 'Why? I didn't do anything wrong(.)' 'Then explain why...school(.)' 'Tommy, tell mommy why daddy...abusive(.)' Other than that, good dialogue. Hugs! Carol

It's so easy to get behind, especially since you've posted many great stories this past month. I hope today is blessed. Smiles & hugs!

Well, I certainly did not see that coming! It's so easy to not get the complete story and jump to conclusions especially when hearing from a child who lacks the understanding of exactly what is being said at times. Great story.

Thank you for sharing this story with us. I do know there are plenty of misunderstandings that often can be cleared up, but here is also a lot of abuse that goes around.

Her irritation showed as she spoke louder than she intended. "I don't need (intended,)

Miss Lexington spoke softly to the little boy. "It's okay, Tommy. (boy,)
