I so wish Dougie was not back in Waylon's life. I have a feeling he'll only get hurt and it'll be worse this time. I can't wait to read more. This is a very good addition to the novel. I received 'Saltwater Ghosts' the other day. Great job!!

Thank you! That means a lot. As far as Dougie, he's a narcissist and we know they use the very ones who love them.

Kids are forgiving. Miranda is the Adult. Dougie is his pal his friend. He never gave Waylon limits, or time, or his concern. This will be a madhouse. I wanna jump into that story and wring his neck. Dougie would be squashed flat when I bounced up and down on his body until I tired myself out. :-)

Lol. I appreciate your lively review. Gretchen

Just when Miranda was getting things sorted, all the cards are thrown in the air again. Of course Miranda needs her momma. She's fit to burst and Mitch is just far too sensible! Another great chapter, Gretchen, with beautiful dialogue, as ever. Take care Debbie
anger and resentment seem to be ta(k)ing up all of the room

The elusive Dougie will finally make an appearance? I am glad he has contacted his son and put him out of his misery, your story has moved on Gretchen and Waylon is finally relieved that he will see his father, a fine chapter, love Dolly x x x

Dougie will appear but it probably won't be a good thing. Thank you for this. Gretchen

That was a traumatic chapter, but good for Waylon. That teacher is needing to be given a good lesson!! Mrs Fine was right. The advice she gave Miranda was spot on. Now, is Dougie here for good for his son? I, like Miranda, think not! If he hurts Waylon again, I don't think Miranda will be able to control her temper. Another excellent chapter, my friend. Well done! :)) Sandra xx

Thank you, Sandra. Mrs. Fine doesn't mince words. Lol. Of course, Dougie is back, but not for Waylon. He has information that no one else has. Things should get interesting. Thank you so much for the extra star. Gretchen

I feel sorry for Miranda. She might be feeling like an outsider .The lack of anger on Waylon's side is a dampening thing for her especially after this showdown ..I am quite eager to read the next chapter..

You nailed it. She got snubbed for standing up for Waylon and his own father deserted him. Thank you. Gretchen

You completely nailed this. I'm so sorry that impetuous me is out of sixes bc this deserves one in the biggest way. This is a masterpiece of a chapter. Kids forgive the worst parenting behavior. Xo

Desperation to have the absent parent back. I'm glad Miranda told him she loves him. That helped diffuse the situation. I'm sure anger will come to Waylon. It would have to. Forget about the six. Your review is all I need. Gretchen

This excerpt from *Miranda Chronicles: Teacher's Pet* highlights the chaos of parenting, particularly for Miranda as she navigates her complicated relationship with Waylon and the return of his estranged father, Dougie. Miranda's inner turmoil is palpable as she grapples with her attempts to be a supportive figure while feeling utterly out of her depth. The dialogue between Miranda and Mrs. Fine is entertaining, capturing the judgmental yet relatable nature of unsolicited parenting advice, but it also adds to the overwhelming feeling that Miranda is in over her head.
The emotional stakes rise when Waylon receives a call from Dougie, transforming the narrative into a mix of excitement and apprehension. However, the abrupt shift from Miranda's internal struggle to Waylon's unfiltered joy feels jarring, as it glosses over the complexities of his feelings about his father's sudden reappearance.
**Rating: 3 stars.** While the interactions are engaging and relatable, the emotional transitions could be smoother to better capture the characters' deeper conflicts.

Miranda makes a lot of mistakes, she leads with her tongue, but I'm sorry you're not giving Waylon's teacher a piece of your mind, teachers can't get away with that anymore. I can remember I got more curry from the teachers than the students, well done Gretchen, blessings Roy

I have a feeling there will be more encounters with the teacher. Thank you for this. Gretchen

Oh wow, I am really feeling for Miranda right now. As she says, nothing is going right for her, although she has the best of intentions. I too am annoyed with Dougie, thinking he can just waltz back into their lives. Hmm. I'll be looking forward to the next chapter.

Thank you, Wendy. I'm guessing Waylon will go through the anger stage once he sees his dad a couple of times. He will have questions. Thanks for catching those edits. Gretchen
