Ciao!
I delightful read.
I have never seen these insects so your description intrigued me.
After I googled and learned that the males emit 6 flashes then take a pause and as the night proceeds the males synchronise so in the end you get all the males flashing at the same time and then they pause ..
so the night ignites all at once and then it turns dark.
Spock would say: fascinating!
Interesting the last part too about fireflies, confederate burial sites and ghosts.

Your poem makes the Blue Ghost fireflies seem very special and rare. My brother-in-law was telling me recently how he'd seen some fireflies, and their bodis were quite warm to touch where the spark was. Well written.

An excellent post and a great rhyming post, the theme was certainly an interesting work, the only time I ever saw fireflies was in Pennsylvania was in Virginia some years ago on a road trip with my son in law, daughter, wife and grandsons, beautifully written Brenda, blessings Roy
