Well told story of a boy trying to manipulate to get his way, and as a dog lover myself, I cant blame him. on the other hand I also sympathize with the mother, more work for her.

A tale of comfort and joy so well told, the pace is good, as Clark works out a plan on a stormy night to convince his Mom that having a dog, Max, would be a very good idea.

That was a sweet story. I could really feel Clark's love he had had for the dog in this place and I was so glad that Max got to stay at the end. An excellent piece, Carol, I enjoyed reading it.

Thanks, Jacob! I'm a dog person (the more the merrier) so I couldn't imagine a life without one sleeping by my feet. Besides Mac needed a home!

A fine story. I did wonder if he would have been better to take the dog to his sister's room to comfort her, and then the mother would see how loving, comforting, and intuitive a dog could be. But he doubtless has a different way, so I'll look forward to seeing it.

Clark is an ingenious boy! I guess that worked but I would think that his mom would have figured out that it was a dog that licked her. Their tongues are just unmistakable. Lol.

In reality, you are so right but in my tale of fiction I can sprinkle a touch of hope and magic and find Max a home. Smiles and hugs, Carol

'leapt out of bed.' I enjoyed your family story of how to smuggle a dog into Mum's bed, hoping she would accept Max. This was a warm and loving tale I'm sure has taken place many times by many children. Their first dog is the best dog. K xx

I'm a dog person for life and would be lost without mine sleeping at my feet. I am thrilled you enjoyed the short and saw the amusement in it. thank you so much.

Sweet story. Not sure where the leash came from, but anyway. I think Clark needs to be punished, and that dog needs an award for being the quietest dog during a storm in a new place, in history.

Good work, I'm sure this will thrill all the pet and dog lovers on the site.

Now really, lance, you would punish the young boy for saving Max from a homeless life on the streets, but take your younger brother shopping for a girl to lay? LOL Just a thought! Thank you for stopping by and reading my short post.

LOL. Well, I wouldn't punish the boy for bringing the dog in the house. I would punish him for clearly disobeying, lying, and disrespecting his mother (that entire thing could've went horribly wrong. Remember Cujo). Technically, the brothers' mother never said no to getting laid. LOL.

I sure do wish I had six stars to give you for this really great story. I was so into it. We are having flash floods from the storm. As I was reading your story, I decided I wanted a dog also, to go with our 900 cats! lol Great job my friend. love and blessings, Teri

This is another cute family story about a boy and his quest for a dog. All the boy had to do was frighten mom, and she finally understood the need for a dog. This story was short, succinct, smooth flowing, with realistic dialogue, and best of all, had a happy ending.

Many said he should have taken the easy way out and brought Mac into his sister's room, but what teenage boy would not prefer the chance to scare Mom too? LOl

Hi Carol!

Another charming story, wonderfully told! Your characters are all well developed and there is never any awkwardness with your plot -- everything moves briskly to the end, a very enjoyable experience for your reader. I don't have anything at all to suggest for improvement!

Clark is well on his way to becoming a master manipulator! His persistence, also, is impressive! The reason moms and dads always balk at getting a dog is because the first thing they consider is that they will be the one that has to clean up after it. I totally get this point of view. Clark is right in trying to balance the ledger in his mother's mind about the dog, for there are benefits as well -- like monsters in storm clouds and rain-averse robbers looking to keep dry.

As I said, I love your little vignettes, Carol! Keep 'em coming!

Patrick

I need a plan! this senile brain wrote a nice long answer to you, expressing my appreciation, and then Bam! I flipped to the next page, a disgusting groan left my mouth along with a spicy word or two, and realization set in that I forgot to save it.

You know I love every thought you share with me so that will have to suffice for now. I just can't bore you with my blabbering for fears if I don't keep saying, hit the save, it might happen again.

thank you for being you and I'm thankful for our friendship. You brighten my day and then "scare me to death" too!
    Smiles and hugs, Carol
