She may not be able to deal with Dougie, but Miranda sure knows what to do with shoplifters. She is rather kind to the old ladies, but she catches them red-legged with wine splashed from the broken bottle.

An excellent chapter, and one can't help but admire Miranda, and how she deals with the situation of the wine thief. Some great expressions ("The soft slosh of liquid in her bottled boobs" and "Damn, boobs ain't what they used to be!") I think "Smuggles, the w(W)ine t(T)hief, needs to have capitals as it is a title. An enjoyable read.

Thank you. I'm glad you found the humor in this. I'm going to take care of that edit shortly. Thank you for this nice review. Gretchen

Yay, Miranda! She's so clever at how she handles these lawbreakers. I just wonder if these really are geriatric shoplifters or disguised ones. Certainly, they wouldn't be carded. Bummer about the broken bottle - but it serves as evidence. Hope that was on camera, too! Lol.

Geriatrics are definitely shoplifters. All ages are. Depends on whether they are prosecuted or not. Most times they are let off with a stern warning. Lol. Thank you for this. Gretchen

Oh my! There was a time in Japan when the elderly did the shoplifting to get into jail where they had shelter, food, and company. I don't know if it's still a problem now.

This is Miranda gold! This is my favorite line: I hear the soft slosh of the liquid in her bottled boobs. Hahaha.
This is really funny, too: Smuggles the wine thief, but I think you need to write it like this: Smuggles the Wine Thief, since that's her whole name. like Alexander the Great.
Also, this sentence seemed awkward: I turn to toss my lunch trash into the trash when... Maybe use "lunch remnants" so that the word "trash" doesn't get used so close together?
Miranda is the coolest. I would love to work with her!!

Thanks, Rachelle. I meant to change the trash sentence but forgot. I'll get right on that. Thank you for the six. I really appreciate the detailed review. Gretchen

One can't helping Miranda's style, she doesn't come straight out of her, I think she wants the lady to suffer along with her accomplice, now that Waylon has knowledge of his father's probable existence, one wonders what he'll if he sees him, beautifully written Gretchen. Blessings Roy

Thanks, Roy, for this detailed review. I think Miranda might draw this shoplifting encounter out a while. Thank you again. Gretchen

Yea. if they had smuggled bread or peanut butter Miranda would have let it slide, but alcohol? That is not need that is want. Old age or not, I would offer to let them go if they cleaned the pumps. I am a hard case! Good writing. Karen

Miranda might have a little fun with this. Lol. Cleaning the pumps would be letting them off easy. Gretchen

Miranda is always in good form and that shoplifter is well and truly fazed by her treatment. I was a bit confused by: Smuggles the wine thief's eyes go wide.. But another excellent chapter in which I enjoy Miranda's pluck and character. Thanks for sharing, Gretchen. Take care Debbie

Snuggles the Wine Thief was Miranda's pet name for the old woman. Thank you for this. Gretchen
